All the long suffering teams have curses. The curse of the goat for the Cubs, the curse of the Bambino for the Red Sox, and for the White Sox the curse of Shoeless Joe.

Bambino shames them all!

I don't know, at least the Red Sox go to the Series occasionally. The White Sox have been there once since 1919. Gotta get Shoeless Joe into the Hall of Fame!! :)

But that's what so horrible about. We get right to the Series, and lose in Game 7.

But, they've been there in your lifetime.

The Cubs and White Sox havn't had the chance to lose one in mine.

Melenkurion Abatha!, Danlo!

Prior will have no problem with Lowell.

In any case a certain Old Lord will be in attendence tomorrow, murmuring labyrinthian chants under his breath and waving eldritch gestures over the field, helping the Cubs win.

GO CUBS!!!!

I sure hope it was warmer and dryer in Chicago tonight than it was in Detroit -- otherwise poor Damelon would have frozen his butt off.

Actually, aside from the outcome, it wasn't a bad night. We were out of the wind in good seats almost right behind home plate.

All I'll say about the game is this; there's one person who surely doesn't want to be recognized tomorrow if he lives around Chicago. :x

This thread is ominously quiet--prob cause as bunch of Cub-heads are in mourning right now. Well forgive then (as all's fair in love, war and sports) but GO FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll second that, danlo. ;)

GO MARLINS!!!!!

What a great team!!! :D :D :D

I didn't log onto celebrate last night because I have been trying from then to now to get World Series tix. No luck so far. :(

But I am still rooting for this great team to go all the way!!!!

The Mullets are back. I'm interested to see if they sell off their entire team after the series this time.

They better NOT!!! :x

Although, realistically speaking, they can't afford to keep ALL their high priced players.

Not quite mourning. Those kind of collapses are expected if one is a Chicago baseball fan. *shrug*

My previous post implys that I'm mad at that poor guy who touched the ball. 95% of people would do the same thing. It was a chance missed, to be sure, but looking at the pictures there were a lot of people reaching for the ball. It certainly wasn't intentional, and it was more embarassing afterwards reading about the super-fans in that section. The Cubs did more than enough on their own to blow that game.

The Marlins have a good team, Pierre is IMO the best leadoff man around.... and Beckett is a very good pitcher. They might be quick enough to give the Yanks headaches.

Pierre's good, but when he gets contact--Soriano is better. Sure, I'd be thrilled to watch the Yanks lose, but they're such a dominant team. I mean, their line-up is probably the best, and their pitching's good starting and bullpen. However, they certainly worse themselves out beating the Sox!

Don't underestimate the Marlins, mhoram.

They didn't expect us to win in '97 either.

And this is one feisty team. They are not intimidated by the Yanks, and they never quit.

GO MARLINS!!!!

True. Hey, I like the Marlins. I saw them play the Sox at Fenway this summer. What a game! So glad I was there! Too bad we lost in the bottom of the 9th off a home run...:x

Wow! Pettite pitched quite a game. Now he is a big game pitcher.

You might say it's laughable to compare Pettite to a pitcher like Pedro. But when it comes to win, it's Pettite who gets you your W. You can compare Jeter and Nomar. One might say Nomar's a better hitter, but Jeter is clutch

I was hoping it would be the Cubbies and the Red Sox, since its been so long since either of those teams won the World Series. (sigh). I guess I will root for the Fish now. :)
