Discuss Politics or art?

Too much finger-pointing, name-bashing, and shame-blaming
in politics.
I'll take the art talks.

Explore space or Earth's deepest oceans?

Space .. to go where no .. umm.. person 😉 has gone before 😁 🖖

Ugh another question 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Would you describe your personality as upbeat or downbeat 😉😂😂😂😂

Upbeat definitely

If you could safely explore any planet which would you explore Saturn or Jupiter?

by Sorus
That's a difficult choice. I'm going to go with Saturn, because the rings and whatnot are fascinating.

LOVE/HATE:
99% lover, 1% hater by volume. The 1% hate is concentrated to a very high energy density though. Even though it's only ever allowed out of the bottle in life threatening emergencies, watching the news can sure make it grumble a bit.

PLANETS/OCEANS:
I'd stay on good old Earth having the best possible time I can on dry land. I'll leave it to the brave to explore the oceans and planets and stick to telescopes and David Attenborough shows!

FULL/EMPTY:
I would describe that glass over there as being at 50% capacity.

UPBEAT/DOWNBEAT:
Ever since I learned to laugh at the madness of my species I've settled into an upbeat kind of downbeat. Pointing at horrible things that make no sense and laughing at them is a wonderful way to cope with existential baggage.

If I briefly get carried away by enthusiasm or optimism, I try to remind myself that it's only a temporary state of affairs and it's best not to step beyond a downbeat kind of upbeat.

BOOKS AND FILMS:
I seem to struggle to read fiction in recent years, having overdosed on it beforehand. I've seen a few reasonable films recently but nothing particularly memorable. The last film that really impressed me was Arrival, but movies like that don't come along too often.

MUSIC:
I really enjoyed Eminem's Kamikaze album but that was a while back now. I heard a Ukranian band called Jinjer for the first time recently. The track's called 'Pisces'. Unless you're into complex musicianship that may have light melodic passages but goes into metal territory then it may not be your cup of tea but... it's very impressive.

The musicians in the band are all excellent, they write strong material and to top it all their singer is beyond talented.

Everything she sings, from quiet melodic parts to flat out death metal growls is performed impeccably. I've checked out some of their other stuff and a lot of it is very niche/heavy indeed, but my god that band has real talent.

If you're a metalhead and you've not checked them out you're missing out.

QUESTION:
OK, I'll add an odd question. When you walk past pine cones, can you resist picking a few up to count the spirals and try to find one that doesn't have a Fibonnaci pair? Or do you enjoy kicking them around?

(I can't. It's been nearly 4 decades since somebody told me. You'd have thought I'd have stopped by now. I always pick a few up and start counting before I kick the other ones around.)

Despite the above, I just kick 'em :D

Are you a night owl or an "early to bed, early to rise" type? Or other?

Ah, now you're talking my language. It took me a while to figure out what they'd done with that time signature!

The idea of using 9-8-7 instead of 8-8-8 just blew my mind. I remember sitting there doing a lot of confused tapping and counting before I realised it resolved over 24 and started with a 9.

I didn't even realise 987 was a Fibonnaci number or what he'd done with the vocal pattern until years later when I went down an internet rabbit hole.

Incredible piece of music even without all the background info, especially from about 3:50 on. Great band.

I'm predominantly a night owl until the body simply says time to crash. After 3 days of increasingly less sensible sleeping it's back to nights due to the shift work of my youth!
