I feel your pain guys-when I worked for ShittyBank I was forced to go to mid-man about a very loud, obnoxious and insulting co-worker that was seriously bringing down the morale of the entire "bucket". I made the mistake of telling him, off the cuff, that I'd strangle this guy if no one could put him in his place. Turned out that the idiot, highly unqualified, ego-tripping manager was on eof this guys poker buddies and not only did it become public knowledge, but I was threatened probation and written up for threatening a co-worker. Of course this guy heard about it right away and turned all his super-obnoxious energy towards me and I had to quit before I really did strangle his ass.

Any one know anything about turtles? Most E-festers met my big box turtle, Stretch, and lately he's been concentrating on digging holes in the grass-now he's sitting in his biggest hole looking out with his butt in the ground and gyrating it back and forth and refuses to move from the hole. Almost makes me think that he is a she and is laying eggs. So maybe our little

Ha ha, strikes a note - the assignment I'm doing at the moment is about stress in the workplace and how it affects peoples behaviours, plenty to write about there.

As for your guitar lessons Sarge, I'd love to do that, just have to find a guitar and the time to do it first.

cags : never volunteer to do work. once you show that you are capable, others will shirk their duty. when one of the walk-ins goes down at work they leave it for me to deal with. pain in the ass...

murrin : we have officers at work who seem to not understand that the radios will carry your voice - THERE IS NO NEED TO YELL INTO THEM!!! I would love to explain the tech to them, but i doubt they would appreciate the trouble i would take.

danlo : i have had to have the "talk" with certain coworkers, officers, etc... they actively discourage such talks/threats nowadays. i am amazed that i have never been written up for such "talks."

It's not New Mexico, but it'll have to do for now. I'm going to see Peter Gabriel on the first day of Summerfest, in Milwaukee, a week from Wednesday. Looks like a pretty good evening. We can leave there and either catch Buddy Guy, Hall & Oates, or Meat Loaf; all playing the last sets that evening in different pavilions.

Damelon, if you don't pick Hall & Oates, Jenn will never speak to you again.

Work, management, etc... yeah, I feel your pain, all of you. Newest thing where I work is making people come in on Sundays (the one day everyone has off) for 'meetings' and 'training sessions' that will 'improve our performance'. Okay, I am working five days a week, getting paid for almost four, not getting enough hours to do my job - how is working six days a week (and still getting paid for almost four) is going to improve anything? (Especially since it's being done as punishment because the manager 'knows how we all like our day off'.) I don't need a four-hour weekly lesson on how to sell stuff. I've worked in retail for (oh gods) almost twelve years now. All it does is take time away from my actual work, which is ironic, because when I ask for time cashiering to try to make sales so I don't need to go in for the damn meeting I always get denied. Doesn't help that my main job is work that everyone knows is necessary but doesn't really notice unless I make mistakes, which isn't very often - and it's not that I need a pat on the back or someone telling me that I'm doing a good job - I really don't need that at all. It just sucks that I feel like I'm doing nothing except fail even though I know it isn't true. Meh. I could go on, but that's enough of a rant for now.

I had another frustrating day. My nemesis was again treating me like his own personal secretary. I wanted to kick him in the balls so hard he would need testicle retrieval surgery to drop them back down. However, to release some tension I instead wandered back to the furniture pad to visit with Nate a bit and ended up imitating the scene from "The Secretary" where Maggie Gyllanhall serves James Spader coffee while her hands are tied to the pole across her shoulders. We had a good laugh over that and Arianna overheard and wanted to know what we were talking about so I ended up having to explain the movie and then explain S&M to her. So she learned a new term today, sadomasochism. Then later I was walking back to receiving and Arianna was walking towards me and we both started walking like the scene and cracking up and Edward saw us and asked what that was about and I told him, "You really don't need to know." at which Arianna and I laughed harder and you could see the anger at being left out clearly cross Edward's face. I know, petty is stupid simplistic and beneath me but hey, sometimes it's the simple things in life that give you the most pleasure....

damelon - i would love to see Hall & Oates. so they get my vote. Gabriel would depend on the setlist for me. does he do any of the old Genesis stuff?

ali - you are right about Andelain, with a pic of the plains in the logo. copyright may be an issue.

sorus : we get suckered into monthly meetings as well. not as bad as yours. but some people have to drive a bit on their day off for a meeting that can be summed up on paper.

jenn - lovely movie. need julie to see it. she is already a Spader fan... i will leave the rest up to your imagination. lol

truly, meeting sarge and julie was one of the highlights of all my years on this forum.

regarding your work sarge, if all prisons in this country were staffed by the likes of you, it'd be a lot better country. thank you for doing that job. the inmates have no clue how lucky they are. the prison management has no clue how lucky they are.

One more day off before I have to go back to work. Magickmaker and I trekked to IKEA today, where she purchased a bookcase. She now has nearly enough space to finish unpacking. Tomorrow, I need to clean the house. Somebody save me....

I'm tired. I had a run in with my nemesis right off the bat at work today. I won it though, hands down. Basically he was bitching me out for something that was not my fault so I finally said in a snarky tone to match his snarky tone, "Edward, I am not your secretary." He responded with, "But I am your boss." and I said, "Which makes it even worse that you are being such a rude jerk to me." as I turned and walked out of the breakroom. Another employee was in there at the time this went down and I think his eyes are probably sore from bugging out of his head. Anyway, about ten minutes later Ed comes up to me and starts telling me what he found out about the mistake in the transaction in a very civilized way and asks for my help to resolve it. He also made a point of being extra nice to me and thanking me for helping him with some other chores I did for him today. Basically, the opening manager does the deposit and cash office stuff, opens the registers and makes sure the store is ready for business and also completes all the audit trail reports. The mid shift manager makes sure the register audit gets done and that the deposit gets checked and finalized and makes sure all the register pulls get done on time and makes sure everyone has their breaks and lunches on time. The closing manager closes the registers and makes sure that the store gets recovered from the retail animals and that everything including receiving is nice and neat. Today, Tony opened, I was mid and Edward closed. I cleaned receiving, did some recovery and closed three registers so he wouldn't have to worry about that. Anyway, had a big interruption and went for a much needed drink with Julie and lost my train of bitching thought. Love you guys, thanks for listening.

I was on the bus ride back from seeing The Tree of Life tonight, and our bus went past the annual Naked Bike Ride.

D***, how did I miss that on the calendar? Now I have to wait a whole year more to participate!
