Double whammy Wednesday means two concurrent questions

1. Chess ♟ or draughts? AND

2. Baseball or cricket?

Chess :D

Cricket. Although cricket can be boring to some, I grew up with it and therefore understand it and therefore it holds memories of watching, listening, holidays etc. I understand baseball less, but I loved playing it. However I have generally found it exceedingly boring to watch.

Football (soccer), Football (AFL), Football (NFL), or Futsal? :D

No contest AFL ... all the way.

We all played soccer and rugby as a kid in the schoolyard Scotland .. and soccer IS a hugely cultural fave as a game ... but I dont enjoy watching it.

Mostly cos its such a low scoring game and its kinda become a tad precious .. the crying foul penchant, the blood rule ... AND I GET WHY but its kinda translated poorly imv.

I had a friend who played Gridiron.. and it could be because it was an amateur game but it was like watching paint dry ... the game stopped every 5 seconds .. and the game had progressed 🤦‍♀️ mere yards. 🤦‍♀️

Baseball is fun .. but yeah to play. We played backyard cricket with the kids when they were young. Nowadays bocce is our holiday game. 🤷‍♀️😂😂😂😂😂

Cricket .. one day games are fun .. but Im hampered by awful childhood memories of my parents glued to the sofa ... through countless sweltering summers ... the low hum of crowd and background noises permeated by the occasional crack of a ball hitting wood.

Are you at home on a stage or in the audience .. do you like being the entertainer or the entertained?

Audience. I don't have stage fright, but I don't have any talents worth performing.

Listening to music when you're in a bad mood - do you choose something that will cheer you up, or something that goes with the mood?

Good question! I don't feel like I make a conscious choice, but it probably would be something that goes with the mood more often than not.

Are you left-handed or right-handed (not a choice I know, but :D )

Right dominant, but when sorting and apportioning medications (a weekly task) I favor left.

Inspired by Hashi's discussion of the recent Presidential shade thrown on Baltimore:
  • Would you rather be in a current US border detention facility or inner-city Baltimore?

Hmm. I'll just have to pass on that one.

Maybe this would be better suited as a poll in Hile Troy's Think Tank, which I also just have to pass on.

It's a bit of a jump from 'Are you left or right handed?' to 'Would you rather be an immigrant detained in a horrific border facility or a free person in terrifyingly violent Baltimore?'

I'm going be a pacifist and ask do you wish the alarm clock would just cease to exist or would you like it to suffer?

Haha, I don't mind the alarm clock, and don't have anything against it personally, so I'll go with cease to exist. The world would probably be a happier place if we could all get up when we were done sleeping.

You have a free evening. Go out, or stay home?

Always out.
Outdoors, usually on a porch.
Naw... I like to be out and about all over town, if I can.

A night around a pool or a night around a bonfire?

A pool in general, because that implies warmth :D Although a night around a campfire on a summer's night is great too.

Laptop or Desktop or tablet or phone?

Hmm that is difficult one because they all have different uses. But if I need to pick one I would say laptop because portable and screen still large for my aging eyes 8)

Favorite place to relax on - rocking recliner or long couch.

I enjoy the rockers, especially if it a recliner!

A surprise birthday party for you,
or a planned party?

I reckon I'd like a surprise birthday party, although it has never happened to me. Also like a planned party - as long as there's a party, I'm good!

Chrome or Internet Explorer or Firefox or Safari or Edge (or Other)?

Firefox or Chrome. Usually Firefox.

Stargazing or bird-watching?

Both are good but Id go bird and add animal to the watching. I love watching roos and wombats, possums native birds .. well also domestic birds 🤷‍♀️

If someone pisses you off do you try to forgive and embrace the irritant or dump and run ... far, far away so as to never have to deal with them again ... ever.

It depends on the context and my relationship with the person. Friend? Relative? Coworker? In general, I tend to be lacking in middle gears. I forgive and forgive and let some folks have more chances than they deserve, which sometimes leads them to think they can walk all over me. Then they'll cross a line, and I will cut them out of my life with a finality that is rarely revoked. That's pretty rare, though. I get along with most people.

You have an opportunity to either bring one creature back from extinction, or to bring a fantasy creature into the real world. Which, and what?

I kinda like herbivorous dinosaurs 🦕 😉 but its probably not the best time to bring them back ... plus theyll just get hunted to extinction anyway. But if I could bring mini mes of them maybe 🤷‍♀️

Over acting in old movies or over acting in modern movies 🎥 🤷‍♀️

Over acting in old movies - somehow I seem to forgive it more than modern movies.

If you were going to have 2 months off work (I wish), would you travel around, or stay in your home town?

Posted: Fri Aug 30, 2019 8:59 am
by Skyweir
Oooh good question ... but to travel around Id need money and THAT I do not have ... but I think yeah Id rather do the travel thing. See faces I dont see in my every day ... visit places I dont go in my every day.

If it was a wish thing Id travel overseas .. if it were a smaller wish Id fly to Hobart 😉😂😂😂😂😂 and eat amazing cake 😛
