Not quite sure what i was dreaming. I woke up in full flight mode. shaking and I had apparently been crying for a while judging by the way my pillow was soaked. can't seem to get back to sleep.
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

Traveling across a post-apocalyptic wasteland in a tour bus with Alex Trebek and the cast of RHPS, with a horde of Mad Max-style baddies on motorcycles in hot pursuit. The landscape abruptly changes to become a twisted alternate universe version of my work commute - the streets are too narrow, buildings too tall, strange shadows cast by nothing visible. It's quiet. Utterly, suffocatingly silent. Everything is grey. I'm the only one left on the bus, which is moving forward with no driver, but slowly, like it's slogging through quicksand. The street is narrowing, closing in. Then the bus is gone, and I'm standing alone in the street, and the buildings have closed in so tightly I can almost touch them on both sides. Everything is made of stone, or maybe paper mache, and the doors and windows are painted on. I was running down the street frantically looking for a real door when my alarm went off.

I don't usually write about my dreams because I am prone to extremely intense and disturbing nightmares that generally fade quickly after I wake, and I try to forget them. This had some nightmare aspects, but more WTH? :screwy:

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing
Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?

I actually had a great dream this morning. My husband and daughter and I were on a beach.

I had two dreams recently where really bad, brutal stuff happened. In both dreams, I was fixing my eye makeup during them. Both times, it was the same makeup style, too. Both were very heavy and dark (that's goth to you!). In one, I dyed my hair black, too. I haven't done my makeup like that in some years except on some occasion.

I was at work, in an office nothing like the one I actually work in. At one of the desks was Jeff VanderMeer. I forget how the dream started, but think he was talking at some point about short story submissions. Across the room from me was Sandeep Parikh from The Guild; he had tickets to an Amanda Palmer show, and Jeff went over to talk to him about them. I was at my desk, but trying to eavesdrop on their conversation. I didn't talk to either of them directly, and they didn't talk to me.

Do you ever dream of other Watchers even though you've never met them?

It's happened to me a couple of times now. A few months ago I had a dream where Zarathustra appeared as a character (he was fairly cool!) and last night Deer of Dawn turned up in a dream set in New York. She was playing a cello and when she was finished, she packed it up real neat and looked at it, as if trying to figure out if she could somehow ship it back to Nigeria.

It's funny/weird to dream of people I've never seen or met.

I just had an odd and disturbing dream. In the dream I had sex with my ex boss Jacob and it was super quick and lousy and i was like, ok then, I'm just gonna shower and go home and he was begging me to stay. The whole time he was asking me to stay I was like, nope gotta go and I felt oddly guilty about being such a bitch but cold and callous at the same time. I think that was just my brain's way of dealing with some stuff I'm going through right now. It was disturbing enough that I am awake now though....

Yep, that would be my guess. Gotta stay or gotta go, aka fight or flight.

I dreamed I was in some sort of classic fifties housewife situation and I was the housewife and the house was not one I ever lived in, more like a suburban upper middle class type house. My husband came home and I was making him a drink while the kids did homework and then we had a weird surreal movie style dinner with kids and "how was your day?" conversations and then the kids went to bed and as I made my "husband" a second drink he initiated sex but it was boring and then all of a sudden I was walking the dog in the middle of some very outback mountainous woods but at the end of the walk and approaching the campsite which had an odd array of four people in it, one childhood friend from grade school, two from college and one Irish guy I had an affair with who was 21 to my 33. We all had an argument over who would start the fire and who was responsible for hanging the supplies so we didn't attract bears and then I was suddenly at work at my old store. I was painfully trying to figure out the schedule. I was the store manager and my department managers were some old bosses, an old store manager, Jacob and my past district manager, Manny. We were in the office at the computer when Sorus walks in and solves the scheduling issue and then we are all called for a manager to deal with an irate customer issue. We all go out and try to calm the customer and Sorus walks away and brings back this stupid Avatar toy from a McDonald's happy meal and ends up distracting the angry customer by pointing out the horrible design flaws in the toy. At that point I decide to quit my job and become a dog walker and so I leave and then suddenly I am in bed snuggling with an old boyfriend that I had an on again off again relationship with. He gets up to go to work and leaves and he leaves the window open and suddenly someone starts throwing white rats at me while I am sleeping and Moose starts barking of course and he is chasing all the white rats down some weird escape hatch in the floor and I say, "For the love of all that is holy, can't you throw a f--cking rabbit or at least something that doesn't carry disease?" and boom I'm inundated with a flow of rabbits landing on me while I am still trying to get back to sleep and laying in bed. I get up and decide that I should get the rabbits out into the park and I open the door and I'm on the boardwalk in Bethany Beach, Delaware, a place we vacationed when I was a kid and Im leading a pack of rabbits and I see my friend Joe only he is morphed with my new tech guy Luke and I'm like, "Can you help me?" and he says ok as long as we can pick up where we left off and I'm unsure what he means but we lead the rabbits out and I'm like, "Wait, rabbits can't live on sand and BAM to my right is one of my old dog parks from SF so we end up chasing all the rabbits onto the grass and then he hugs me only he looks like Joe with Luke's hair and he feels like Frankie from high school and we start to kiss and he pulls away and asks me why I don't love him anymore and then I woke up.

While I was on vacation, I had a dream one night that all my hair had turned gray, and it had grown so long that it reached the ground.

I keep talking about getting a haircut. Maybe I should actually do it...

Let it grow!!! :D

I had a magnificent dream, but all I recall is at the end coming to the top of a ridge with my traveling companions and looking out over a stunning vista, a green valley that stretched on forever to snow-capped mountains.

On a lighter note (oh goodness sarge, the tentacles sounded horrifying), last night I dreamed:

A good friend of mine in the area wanted to return something to me, but she forgot to call. (never mind that she actually has a cell phone)
In the dream, I was out, but, I'd left the door unlocked.
So she left it inside for me.
And then later when I saw her she related - with much laughter - how she had surreptitiously looked to see if anyone was watching her before she tried the door.

Another dream I remember a bit of last night…
There was this church community that was trying to figure out why none of the "young generation" was a part of it.
But then someone told me the story.
Years ago, one of the teenagers from there had been guilty of some crime like stealing.
And someone in the church had decided to take (and maybe publicize) pictures, (like mug-shots?) for extra ostracizing.
And the rest of the people accepted him doing that, I guess.
The girl hadn't been especially popular among her peers, but it seems they all heard of what happened, and turned and ran.
The timeline was somewhat confusing, as the story I was being told seemed be in black-and-white, and the guy was taking pictures of the accused with the old-fashioned flash-bulb photography…
"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."

had a dream that covered a couple of nights. i was back home in Concord, New Hampshire. but I was all alone. I picked an apartment building on the corner of Main and Pleasant.

then I started scavenging stuff from the library and various stores downtown. I built a shower (like a camp shower) and had a garden on the roof. i was taking care of around six stray dogs. I built a woodstove and collected firewood.

and every night something would roam the main street. the dogs and I would hunker down while this happened. snuffed the lights and stayed quiet.

this went on for two years until I heard voices. two women were lost walking down main street. Jenn and Cynthia Martin...

Dreamt I was on a road trip with my dog looking for a town called Doubt. Every time I passed a road sign it was always 6 miles away.

Whoa baby, would Freud have a party with that one. I looked on Google maps but could not find any town with that name.

No no, this is fabulous! You're in the driver's seat, right? So you're taking control of your life. And here's what my fave dream interpretation site says about the number 6:
The number six indicates the dharmic path in dreams. Six symbolizes going beyond the five senses and karma and experiencing life as a spiritual journey in a state of Grace. Choices are made through the heart and the path in life you follow is the path you know is of most benefit to you spiritually. This way of living has a strong connection to life, the spirit world and a great sense of purpose. To others it can appear irrational and crazy at times but that is because they are still experiencing life through karma.
So whatever you're doing -- keep doing it! :)
