JazFusion,

I almost went. I'm pretty sure my dad was there. I'm really glad it went well, hope it becomes a tradition.

Who was your dad? I met one of the main organizers, but I forget his name.

Here is the photographic evidence!

JazFusion,

My dad wouldn't have been an organizer. He works for the Mass. Cultural Council which helped fund it but didn't, AFAIK, organize any of it. If he went he went only for fun. And it looks like it was fantastic.

This weekend I'm heading to Green Bay to see the Packers/Colts game. The Packers will probably get worked (though I can hope...) but the stadium is so freaking cool that it'll be fun anyway. :)

Relatives in town this weekend..so today..its up the Apache Trail we go, a very scenic drive along the lakes of the Salt River chain. An authentic " feel" of the South West is garnered there. Maybe I'll bring pics back.

I'm going to bike 20-something miles to watch my sister play soccer. And I'm going to do a ton of homework.

Today is the Bears-Packers game, so it's a "Game Conditions" party. Friends of mine set up a tv in a garage, they throw the garage door open, and anyone who wants to watch the game can stop by.

I've been stopping in here between progress on a project. I have an olde humidor that I bought off of EBay. Its a Jewett of Buffalo NY humidor circa 1920's and as received, pretty scar'ed and beat. The upside is that the box is of tiger oak ( stripe'ed) and the inner box is made of copper and the " seal" of the lid to box is still quite good. So this weekend I have stripped the finish, sanded the oak down to just about all the scars of time are gone and am ready for a refinishing stain and eventual finish. Then I will line the interior with sections of cigar boxes sanded and cut to fit. The lining will hold moisture much like a sponge, and over time absorb the " oil" given off by cigars and thus add to any flavoring or " seasoning" of cigars stowed there. Thus I turn olde pieces of crap into usable personalized show pieces. So, its off to Home Depot to find a stain that will do the humidor justice.

Sat -- drove to Baltimore for my next-to-last Czech class of the semester. Then made the pilgrimage to our new Wegman's. Man, that is one humongous grocery store. Freakin' thing's so big, it could use its own zip code... 8O

Yesterday -- read the Sunday paper and spent about 10 hours working on the NaNo novel. I'm still about 8,000 words behind where I should be. Arrrgh.

Friday: Went out for pie (best friend treated me), it was the first time I ever had pie at Perkins and it was fantastic! Watched a movie with a friend (first time she saw it, I wasn't sure she would like it, she enjoyed most of it). Read half of a book. Put off doing homework until tomorrow.

Saturday: Played viola with a string ensemble at a wedding--the timing was perfect for every song, and we got lots of compliments (and $70 each, not bad for a bunch of college students at their first gig, especially as all the rehearsals were during class time). Talked with a friend for a few hours. Helped another friend come up with a name for one of her characters in her fantasy story (I'm great at inventing cool-sounding names). Read the rest of the book. Put off doing homework until later.

Sunday: Went home for church and to see my sister perform in a play--she did fabulously in one of the main roles, and I recognized one of the props she used as something I made for her for Christmas last year, so I'm glad she put it to good use; and my brother did a great job as stage left manager/stage crew. Ate a good meal at home before returning to the college dorms (dorm food should not be labelled as food--it isn't edible). Practiced judo with a friend (practical final coming up later this week) because she was unsure about a few throws--so basically she practiced and I just let myself be repeatedly slammed into the ground--great fun. Found a program I'd been looking for to write music on my computer. Thought about maybe doing my homework sometime in the near future, and then decided against it.

Today: Went to class. Did homework (well, at least I started it). Babysat two adorable children and had a blast. Worked some more on homework. Etc.

Good luck with your NaNo novel, aliantha. You still have some time, so don't fret about a few thousand words!

Thanks. I figure I've got most of Thanksgiving weekend to catch up, as long as I don't intend to eat or sleep. 8O Complicating matters is the fact that I'll have to drive 6 hours over Thursday and Friday. Turkey Day itself will be a total loss. I *might* get some writing time in on that Friday after I get home. We'll see....

Sounds like you had a good weekend yourself. And practically homework free, to boot. ;)

I've been in Manhattan since late Thursday afternoon.
Got together with Fist and Xar for about 12 hours on Friday, and again with Xar yesterday afternoon until about 10 PM.
It looks like today will be a day on my own, and I head home tomorrow.

It is friggin' cold for this Floridian. I am so not sure how to spend my day today...

I had a down jacket and gloves all set to go...
...and then we wound up calling 911 for Beorn as we were loading the car.

The paramedics said he was stable, and Paul insisted I go on my trip anyway... 8O

But, I left without the jacket.
Fortunately, there was a blue flannel hooded jacket in the van, and I've made do with that.

Headed to the airport to head home in about 45 minutes.
I spent yesterday taking in the holiday decorations of The City. Macy's holiday windows were unveiled at 6:30 pm last night.

*happy sigh*
