I don't think there's any doubt that it could all turn bad, but I do think things rarely get as bad as we fear they will. Right now, it could go either way, but I'm an optimist and I choose to believe that rational methods will prevail.

The more I think about it the more I'm convinced that the Chrons would make a great pc/console game ala Skyrim or The Witcher. There was always talk of a film or TV series, but I think they missed a great opportunity there - not to neglect that done well it probably could have netted SRD more cash than the books ever did!

There is an old TC MUD actually. Probably not still going, but somewhere on the forum is a thread about it...

That's right! There is! [[or was...]] Completely forgot about that.

I'm not sure the Chron's would have made all that great a game for the first,
at least not without going WAY beyond the source material. It gets somewhat better/bigger with the second. Now, a game set after the end of the last---THAT has potential. [[I suppose you could set the game earlier and claim the stuff/people/places no one knew about till the last WAS known but lost/destroyed by/between Desecration and the first.

Hi Skyweir, I am 15 minutes from Adelaide. The seasons mean a lot around here. I am originally from Sydney CBD. I've said before I do a lot of domestic travel, but home is full of trees and smaller market farms and various vineyards. a secret we like to selfishly keep secret. Autumn or fall and the colours here are as beautiful as it gets in my humble opinion. Spring is also amazing Summer and the fire season can be scary. Winter can be medieval wet and cold - very much fireplace weather. But who doesn't love a fireplace? Really high quality local produce..... Aaaand the sauv blancs do well in the immediate climate here. Not too far away is the Clare, McLarenvale, and Barossa for the world class Shiraz, Reisling and blends accordingly.

The leader and deputy leader of the odious far right movement Britain First have been jailed for dissemination of hate material in the form of online postings of videos and leaflet distribution during the rape trial of three Muslim men, attempting (the judge said) to capitalise on the nature of the other case in order to promote their own racist and anti-muslim views.

I'm sickened by the activities of these despicable organisations, but have grave misgivings about the use of our courts to stem their right to free expression of their views. Is this not a very slippery slope we stand upon. We could equate the use of Christmas by religious organizations to spread their messages in exactly the same way - but wouldn't dream of curtailment of their right to do so let alone jail their leaders - and yet many would see their message as equally dangerous and regressive in it's own way. Our society is becoming increasingly reliant on the use of Law to suppress or change attitudes and beliefs and in so doing risks becoming the very thing that it hates.

It's probably inevitable. The pendulum swings both ways...

On the first---is that really the problem?
Or is the problem that too many people LIKE tyranny? [[they may disguise it in rationalizations and willful blindness, but it is usually obvious, and they aren't oblivious]] They only dislike it when they make an error in judgement in choosing sides...
[[but I'm not cynical completely on it---tyranny is slowly fading away. It arises less often, a smaller portion of populations are subject to it. It's not over or irrelevant, it has resurgences---but the trend is away from it]].

On the second---I despise that aphorism. It's nothing but a tool to impose doubt, fear, guilt, moral judgment on people who don't deserve it.
And logically suspect---if good intentions pave the way to hell, what the fuck DOESN'T?

I think I may never buy takeaway pizza again. I just made four and there is none left!
There were four roughly 12 inch pizzas, each one different. The chopping board had ham, prosciuttio, bacon, sundried tomatos, red onion, artichoke, bocconcini, fetta, mozzarella, chilli, olives, and my wicked basil flavoured tomato sauce. Oh, and pineapple.
The dog was not happy because he only got a little crust.

It's the work I don't like. The benefit of takeaway is the convenience...

Really sorry to read of the death of Professor Stephen Hawking. A man who not only spearheaded the bringing of Science to the public and made his own huge contributions within his chosen field, but who rose above the imposed adversity of his condition to embody a humanity and humour that every one of us could learn from.

Theresa May is I think, very unwise to start issuing ultimatums to President Putin over the recent poisoning event in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral. Boris Johnson, the current Foreign Secretary has apparently summoned the Russian Ambassador and given him twenty four hours to explain how this poisoning occured or "we will assume Russian State involvement" and take appropriate retaliatory measures. Putin has already brushed aside the threat with contempt and will of course ignore the ultimatum making May look foolish and Britain like a dog with all bark and no bite. Better to have remained quiet, awaited the results of the full investigation and then planned and executed a strategy of reprisal with the help of our allies and the cooperation of the international community. If the Russian State is behind this, it reduces itself to the level of pariah state and must be exposed as such before the world at large.

What I wouldn't give to experience just for five minutes that guys understanding, his deep perception, into the working of the Universe. Living proof ( ) that all men are not born equal.
