I have probably been the least active in instances (I HAVE been a leveling machine - 4 80s now  ) I have recently been, by the grace of Raid leaders, invited to Naxx 10-man and 25-man Raids.

My DPS is pathetic. I would like to address that and see if I can get into a regular rotation of heroic instances on weekends to gear-up and be more useful in Raids.

I plan to focus on Stormbreak the shaman who I have recently dual-spec'd Resto to compliment the Enhancement spec. I would like to build out both the DPS Enhance gear and Healing gear to be able to back up our outstanding healers!

Any appetite for such gearing heroics rotation? Or am I soooo late, and everyone is already geared so I should just go level up another alt? ;) [Or are they already going on and I am just oblivious to them!]

I think most of us are still happy to run heroics when we can. Your dps isn't that bad, though - can't remember exactly, but you've been at least 1100, probably higher, on both of your characters. You're also getting good at popping Heroism at the right moment. ;)

Naxx 25 will be going back to Saturdays starting next week. We had a long meeting last week about the issues we had when we pugged in 9 people, including healers, and were unable to kill even the easiest boss. Tuesday went well this week, but yesterday we managed to end up with random people from several different guilds again, and it didn't go well. As a result, we have several key people who are about ready to give the whole thing up as a bad idea. It's a lot of work to get 25 people together, especially with many who have limited experience, and we accepted that from the beginning. When we add in pug healers who don't do their job, and random people who spend the night whining about our loot system and trying to take over the raid, it's really more trouble than it's worth. Kelleta is a nicer person than I am, and she has put up with people that I would have booted from the raid. That said, she has had about enough, and we're going to give it a couple more tries, but if we can't get enough people from our core groups we will not go.

It would be nice if we could make this work. It would benefit all three guilds. On the nights we have been able to get enough guild people, it has gone well. We have the first two halls down, but for us to progress to the more difficult bosses we need a level of teamwork that we're not going to get with pug people. I'm not saying that *all* the people that have been brought in have been bad, but it's been a pretty steady trend of things going worse the more we bring in from outside.

again, i think it's the time frame and people's schedules that make it difficult to get this going on a consistant basis.
i will be free on saturdays from now (today) on. (this week i had to work
on saturday so that was a problem for me)

also i think that at least in The Watch Guild the problem is we don't have enough 80's that are familiar with the runs and geared enough to do them that are willing to commit to an agreed schedule.

i've noticed that Elanmorin (as his guild leader) is actively attempting to get his people on a regular run schedule to get his lower lvl people geared.
this is something the watch ought to do too. i think we could make at least one day a week (say a wednesday) where we run our lower lvls through some instances and start trying to get them more involved and geared and such. also we need to sort of address what we actually need in the guild to have a full instance and raid running team.
we still only have kysen as main tank and he's just not available at the same times as some of the rest of us so we need another tank in the guild.
raest can tank, if i'm not mistaken so maybe we need to sort of figure out who works well with who in which roles and organize some "teams" for running instances. sort of on the order that AD had suggested, the team consisting of a couple of high lvls well geared and some of the lower lvls who need gear.

i dunno. i just feel like i've been depending on elanmorin and DO just a bit much and they have their own people to get lvl'd and geared. they are not necessarily going to be as concerned with the watch people. and AD is definitely depending on the watch and DO to work within their guilds to help its members get geared so they've made themselves available via the bunnyslippers chat channel if we need help doing that (which is very nice and generous of them.)

i guess i'm just blathering and thinking out loud here but i got kind of disspirited last night and feeling a bit guilty that some of the watch guild members are probably feeling a bit left out of the whole thing.

I have my 80 Warrior that could become a Tank (his defense is 514) but he currently has no epics.

Which is why it will be going back to Saturdays. I have asked for feedback on what times work for people, and no one has answered. However, I do know that there are people who cannot make it on worknights, so hopefully this should help at least some.

We've got OS down, if we can get started on time I can see us knocking it out within 30 minutes next week. That leaves time to do a few heroics or something, and we can try to schedule stuff for Sundays too. Weekdays are more difficult, but there isn't much we can do about that.

lucimay wrote:i guess i'm just blathering and thinking out loud here but i got kind of disspirited last night and feeling a bit guilty that some of the watch guild members are probably feeling a bit left out of the whole thing.
Which is why I've been asking people what times work for them. I realize there isn't going to be a perfect time that works great for everyone, but please give me some feedback.

Also, I've said this before, it would be nice to get people more geared up. It would be nice to do more heroics. However, we are good enough to do 25-man Naxx. I've said this a zillion times; DPS is not our problem. If we were missing enrage timers, we would have an issue. 1500 is the minimum recommended. We might have a couple who are under that, but we also have several who are double that. We're good on DPS. We could be better, but the more we run the more gear we're going to get.

DPS is not the problem. The Watch is not the problem.

The people who aren't listening, and the random people from big raiding guilds who want to do things their way, are a big problem.

I know that some of them are affiliated in some way with DO, so I've tried not to be a bitch about it, but there were people there the last time that I'd never seen before and their behavior was unacceptable. They were either unaware of our loot rules when they were brought in, or they decided sometime after that they had a problem with them. They also wanted to do things the way their guilds do them, and while we are open to new ideas, we do know what we're doing. We're also not overly interested in helping the big raiding guilds get their members geared up, but it's more the lack of respect.

As I said above, if we can't get enough people from within our guilds, we will not go next time. AD has offered to help us as needed with our 10-mans, and a lot of them have alts that would be willing to help with heroics as well.

yeah. i know. i'm just blathering.

i got a bit peevish last night. prolly just tired and feeling like i'm
never gonna get geared up.
i'm whiney.

i'm sorry. :(

but i want to run with jhemtar and elodow and make sure they
get geared up and feel like they are included as well. they are
my recruits and so far i haven't taken very good care of them
so i'm feeling a little guilty.

Nobody gets geared up overnight. I did pug heroes and raids for weeks before I found AD. AD's philosophy is that it should never be about the gear. Gear changes. Running with a good group that has fun and works well together is our goal. Gear is the inevitable outcome from that, but we don't stress if we don't get the item we want because we're going to go back next week. And when the item drops again, there's less competition for it, because we're the same group we were last week and someone already has it. :P

Jhemtar has been running Naxx. I have no idea what his DPS is like because I don't use those nasty addons, but I am not aware of any problems.

And we can certainly do some dungeons with Elo, also, he needs to speak up a bit more when he needs help with something. Most of us would be willing to help him if he has a group quest or something, but he never asks.

That's ditto for everyone; if you want to do a dungeon, start a party. :P

We are getting towards the time of year when it's difficult to commit to times. It's not like winter, when you are stuck in the house while 15 inches of snow are falling outside. Things tend to pop up on weekends during the summer. :)

Weeknights, from now through August, Tuesday nights are out for me for softball. While the Blackhawks are on their Stanley Cup run, the nights they play are out for myself, and more so for Kaehln who is a big hockey fan.

This time of year, probably the best times for me to do an instance on the weekend are mornings, before 10 am server time. I can do them at other times, but I can't commit to doing them at the same times each week.

I'm actually very free those times on weekends. 3am-4pm server is all fairly good for me on saturday and sunday. Problem is whether other people are.

Just wanted to add a quick note here to let people know about some runs I am looking to put together soon.

As a few may be aware I have switched guilds for a short period of time (for easier access to organising said runs and also because my cousin has switched servers so spend some time with me before she has to move back over to SA). I will still be around and available for things if people need be so just give me a shout as and when!

Now the runs. Basically there are a fair few people leveling up either mains or alts on both guilds. I know leveling can be a real pain and sometimes it feels like people only want to do heroics and raids when they hit 80 and you can get left behind. So my plan is to get some instance groups together for BC and Northrend dungeons and get people through for exp, quests and for the 80s many of the achievments on the BC runs. Also anyone needing BRD and things in that area I seem to spent a fair bit of time running through there if you have a toon needing that.
As I will be away for about 10 days it may not happen this week but I'd really love some suggestions on things people want/need to do and who would be interesting in coming along. Be it to help if you are 80 or coming along for the exp.

My cousin will also be asking people to come along to a few of the old world raids as she is farming for 3 mounts so if you happen to get an invite from Pryzm she will also be helping me out!

Oh and by the end of this week we will have a number of Onyxia Cloaks for people so we can try finish off BWL - fun fun fun! This time the repair bills won't be anywhere near as high we hope.
Let me know if you are ready to go slay that final boss.

Personally, I'm ready to slay the fourth boss, wait a week, slay the second and last boss, kill onyxia, cleanse eranikus, farm elementium, and whatever other hoops Blizz's quest designers make you jump through for the Sceptre chain. (Just love that you need to kill Onyxia to get cloaks to do BWL to reach the part where you need to kill Onyxia, heh.)

Now, what do I need to bribe you to get all the elementium drops? Heh.

Thank you Murrin. With what you gave me already, I am up to 540 Defense. And the only epic I have so far is the shield. I also gave Chaos frostweave bags so he can carry his DPS gear (crafted blues) with him.

I appreciate your help!

Now I need to learn how to tank and practice! (I wish I could use charge as a tank!)

(You even have that in Chaos' spec, heh.)

By the way, looks like you have two talent points left, I'd recommendusing them to reduce the cooldown on Shield Wall.

OKAY OKAY! IF EVERYBODY IS THROUGH HELPING DEVA/CHAOS/STORMBREAK NOW I'M HAVING A PROBLEM WITH DPS!! :P

(ooo that sounded kinda bitchy huh! )

no really... i've done everything everyone has told me to do regarding getting my dps up and STILL my dang Guild Leader asked me yesterday if i had any clue why my dps was so low!

(and YES DEVA i checked to make sure Pitch was spec'd! :P )

i went and practiced on the heroic dummy in SW last night and sabdo was there and i practiced my shot rotation (which consists of, in this order, hunter's mark, serpent sting, black arrow, explosive shot, steady shot, kill shot is next in the rotation but it won't work on the dummy because i can't even get the dummy's health down far enough for it to become usuable) and the dps was miserable. concussion shot don't work on dummies either.

then sabdo came over and said to me to just use my two most damaging shots which i figure are explosive shot and black arrow. when i just did that (using steady shot and Pitch's kill command ever so often) then it went up to just over 15k. and that was with a guru elixir and dragonhawk on.
forgodsake. i was higher spec'd as BM!! :? what the HELL am i doing wrong?

i've switched out almost all of my AP bright scarlet rubies for the +16 agility ones (i have one left in one piece)
i've looked at STorm's and Dennagar's gear and thats how i realized to switch out AP gems for agi ones.
the only thing both of them have that i don't have is haste gems and some agi enchants (which hopefully deva can do for me)

other than that i just don't know WHAT to do.
this is driving me absolutely batshit and i am SOOOOO embarassed to
go in the raids! it makes me feel like a total loser who doesn't know how
to play their character. and in truth, as long as i've been playing i've hardly done any instances and NO raids until i got to northrend, so i really
DON'T know what i'm doing with this survival spec. ugh.

so...HELP!

i won't get to go on the good raids unless i get geared better and i can't get geared better unless i go on the good raids (10 mans in northrend.)

its a catch-22.

do you think blizzard heard what a badass i was and nerfed me? *sniffle*
