Oh man, with me trying to scrounge financing to send Beorn again to camp this summer, I so see this not being doable for me, even if I do stay in a tent.

that Days Inn downtown is far away from danlo's.

look in the UNM area. there's tons of hotels out that way. i'll go look for a link.

you guys look up a city map of albuquerque and see what i mean.

i will too and post one if i can find one.

LOL

As to my hotel pick. My priorities were location (near Danlo's) and price (FREE - Marriot points!)

As to a pool - LOL - I do not want to subject the world to ME in a bathing suit!! It was not a factor for my selection.!

Jenn, just to satisfy my OCD, did you get a confirmation of the weekend from SRD?

by danlo
My major cross streets are, roughly: San Mateo and Gibson. I assume that Saturday the 2nd will be the date for dinner and SRD's talk/interview--I need to confirm this with you guys before I try to email G. R. R. Martin (or possibly Sci-Fi author Walter Jon Williams--if Martin declines) to invite as Toastmaster. I'm looking at some venues but we have plenty of time for that. We need to start designing T-Shirts and commemorative 30 Year Anniversary of LFB Shirts as well--so you creative types start drumming up ideas!

As far as I can see Martin's email is top priority right now...the little film crew (my tech head buddies from Santa Fe) know to be available that day, but we won't have to start on the details till May. 8) We need to start notifying old Festers too--I'm not sure that folks like birdandbear, Caam, Fist and others know that this is actually happening--I assume Romeo will be coming again soon. I don't know if Fist can afford to come out--duchess indicated probably not, and I'm concerned for her health right now.

No but I fired an email right back at him after he responded that he was free and I told him to mark that weekend as no longer free because it's the official date of elohimfest. I'll fire another email asking for confirmation from him and if I don't hear back by tomorrow I'll just call him on his cell phone.

ok i can't figure out how to embed a map from mapquest

danlo lives in the SOUTH EAST corner of albuquerque.

that's important in alb. because the streets run all across the city and many of the main ones have north east and south east designations.

he lives very very near the airport which you can find easily on the mapquest map of the city.

www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?city=Albuquerque&state=NM

zoom in twice till you can see how the two highways intersect in the middle of the city map.

look in the SE quadrant for Gibson blvd SE

Wayfriend wrote:Okay, I have one thing left that is preventing me from starting to make reservations. I've never done a eFest before, and no one has really ever explained it to me, either.

Does anyone have a vague idea what happens when?

I assume the "big nite" will be Sat evening, and that Fri night, Sat daytime, and Sun daytime are for other kinds of ad-hoc get togethers. Some more planned, like shows and ballgames, some more like just getting together for dinner/drinks.

Is this a good guess?

I need this to figure out what days to fly, etc. I probably won't have the luxury of flying in Thu nite and leaving Monday morning. So if I have to cut it closer, I want to know which way to trim.
yes that's pretty much it...we went out for breakfast a couple of times and toured the Jemez Mountians and the Valle Grande (Andelian!) as well, last time.

So who's confirmed already?

I haven't made a final decision but I'm probably staying here, based on Danlo's recommendation.

Out of curiosity, how many people attended the first elohimfest?
