I liked ali's and Savor Dam's passages the best.

Yes. And for themselves.

I have a tough choice without having myself as an option) The choices are differently wonderful, and each for own reasons. My choice may be not really fair and is much based on what I thought about the people who made the choices and their reasons.
So, I choose Ananda, whose choice is unusual and surprising, and I'd really like to hear the reasoning behind it, if that's possible "We had become the thing we hate. We are better dead.", and Savor Dam, who chose the poem that I think could be chosen by the Giants themselves "bold for going where the dreaming goes."

I chose that passage because it was the moment of revelation of dread and the giants choosing their inner foul rather than go on which is a theme of choice in the books. I don't really have a strong connection for the giants as many do and enjoyed this ending to that sub race of the giant as a plot device and as a powerful scene. Their suicide was far more intriguing, I thought, than them marching to help in the war.

I vote:
ebony_squire - Foamfollower's matchless self-sacrifice
aliantha - classic Foamfollower other-centered conversation.

Oh, good. Cause I was concerned you chose it just to mess with people.
Effy- he said you
CAN vote for yourself.
(and indeed, perhaps are encouraged to)

In that case, I would have chosen the implied sex scene between the first and pitchwife. SRD is horrible about not having sex in his TC books (don't now about the other ones)! The best case, it is implied. I like a little steam in my books. Doesn't have to be graphic, but some passion is good!

IIRC, there is more than a hint of steam betweeen Covenant and Linden in some of the latter parts of TOT.
If you want to see SRD's closest brushes with carnality, read the first two Gap novels. Not particularly erotic -- indeed, parts make TC's rape of Lena appear to be mild

-- but certainly sex scenes.
BTW...Frostheart and Menolly receive my votes.

OMG, I'm actually in the running for this?
Uh...let's see...crap, I can only vote for two??
Okay. I vote for mine and Effy's.

I had a problem choosing anyway, I like all the variants. But having an option of voting for mine was good)
Ananda, a very good explanation, it goes well with one of SRD's favorite ideas - about winning not possible without a chance of losing. Thus, showing or implying the Giants may have such a side as well is necessary. Even if such a thing was actually chosen at least partially to provoke, it doesn't make it worse, I often find thought-provoking things among my favorites, even if they were meant as stabs.
As for steam in the books - yes, the Gap has more.
And, curiously enough, I've been reading some reviews for SRD's books earlier today, and many people think he's obsessed with sex and generally sick

About LFB: "The novel is purely for perverts" About the first book of Gap: "Sexual fantasies of the author on a space background" "For the lower parts of the spinal cord" (All from the Russian aldebaran site) Shame on them, we know there's actually
too little of that in the books

I vote for squire, since that almost brought a tear to my eye, and of all submissions, made me want to go back and reread the Chronicles immediately. But I'm not sure if squire will come back, in which case I'd pull for ali.

Well, you get two votes anyways.
No reason to believe Ebony_Squire won't return, he's been posting in several places here

It says he has 2 posts.
EDIT: I think its WF's alter account, so that he can win all the WGDs...

I could not possibly comment on this, either one way or the other.

I think I know who ebony_squire is an alter for. It's not me. But I am a tad worried about him disappearing mid-game. Mostly because the last time was a fiasco, and not anything personal against the Sqiah.

Probably dropping out voluntarily. Was bored waiting for eons on some Eastern European station, posted from my mobile after some googlage, and didn't have time to look for better quotes later.
Plus I'm emotionally pretty tired (some RL stuff...) and likely not on the right mood for this anyway.

Look at that, squire and then WF post... This game is rigged! Abandon ship!
Sorry, while we await to see who made the top 5, I'm just stirring up trouble. If squire's in, he's got my vote, along w/ali. But I'll have you know WF, I'm on to you...
Frostheart, sorry to hear of your dropout. I know Survivor is not for the faint of heart though.
