Obviously metaphorically. :D I don't care about where he wears his literal socks, or even whether they are worn at all. :D Even the boss is frequently barefoot in the office in summer. :D

His metaphorical socks on the other hand, we do care about.

Anyway, was very busy Friday. Lost power at about 11h30 on Thursday, so we all went home, had some catching up to do as a consequence.

Heck of a week.. The highlight of this last week of May was when the waste
management came around and collected the garbage...

But on Saturday at 2:15 PM.. Electrial power was restore to our neighborhood...

Monday was the day of infamy..

13 tornado ripped thru the Dayton Ohio area.. with the nastiest one being an EF4.

Took the power grid down across the entire area...
Lost power at 10:30 PM on Monday and then restored on Saturday...

Got a some damage from the storm.. a part of the roof was lifted off my house and a batch of siding was torn away...

Went out Tuesday and cured my front lawn.. it had a case of the shingles.
But our area was very lucky..
We couldn't see the twister but we sure saw the line of transformers explode in the distance and headed for the basement..(it was around 10:30 PM)
Some area's were destroyed down to the foundations...

Funny thing.. I was looking out the basement window and we had a wooden chair on the deck and it didn't budge an inch.
While we were looking for the darn thing there wasn't any rain, hail or wind...
It passed to the north of where I was but some outer winds did the damage to my home.. and there was no sound at all... strange.
It looked like it jumped over sections of land and torn the other places to hell and back.

So this past week was fun without power, internet or phone service..
But I am counting my stars.. I had to travel to a number of places during the week.
What I saw torn the heart out of me seeing home completely gutted.
Road closed because the damage was so massive. Driving 20 miles more just to get home from
my destination...

Talked with a man from the power company.. he said that some areas will take 3 month before power is restored... Ack...

But I am alive..
One elderly man was killed in a town 60 miles to the northwest.. a car was slammed into his home and he was killed. That was an EF3 tornado.
Up to 150 people in the area were hurt by the storm..

Check out tornado, Dayton.. you can see what happened..

Wow, that sounds seriously scary Ur Dead. I just looked up EF4 tornadoes as I didn't know the term - 170mph winds?? That's just crazy.

Our power went out about a week ago for 2 hours and it felt like the end of the world to the kids. I'll have to send them over to the united states of crazy to experience a REAL outage!

Had a look at the Dayton Daily News photos.
What puzzled me was why people living in tornado alley continue to live in wood houses! Wouldn't masonary homes be safer?

Reading about the 2013 Moore OK disaster, with winds of up to 210mph (EF5) puts claim to the fact that masonary homes are no more safer than wood.
Gosh!

Feeling old.
Went to the Dead Milkmen concert Saturday night, and had one of those "dammit, I'm not too old" moments. I went in the pit, and my knee is now swollen painy pain pain. It was a very friendly pit, and everyone was helpful and having fun. There was some guy who left with a gash above his eyebrow and blood poring into his face. I fell onto my knee and shouldn't have been a big deal, but saw it when I got home and realized it was more than just the stupid bruise I thought it would be. Been icing it since, and just want to ice my whole body, as I just hurt.
Anybody have a younger body I could download my consciousness into?

Dayton really isn't in Tornado Alley. That more in Texas Kansas, Missouri.
Ohio is about 500 miles to the east. This was a freak storm. Although there have been tornado's in Ohio there has never been one in the Valley that
Dayton sits in.
The EF4 started in a town 15 miles from Dayton's center and was at an
elevation of 1030 feet. Dayton lowest point is 730 feet. There are rolling sub valleys moving downward to the center then upwards toward another town that sits 980 feet that was also hit. My home sit around 850 feet on a slope within Dayton itself.
This tornado(or the group of them) traveled from the Northwest to the southeast. Normally they travel in a northeastern path, so this was not
a normal storm.
Since Dayton's founding (1797) there has been no known record of a
tornado entering the city. This was the first so homes are constructed accordingly. The worse tornado to hit the area was in 1974 in the town of Xenia Ohio. That was an EF5 and it tore up the place massively.
But any tornado usually touches down 10 miles away from the city.
That is why this one was so different.. We have had funnel cloud pass over the top but never touch down.

Well, congrats on principle LuciMay, but you'll have to be quit for longer than that to not be a smoker... ;)

Glad you better.

Also, if you have the diacritical thing, you should just be able to hit the back button in your browser, and your post will be there.

Then you can copy and paste it into the diacritics remover thing.
