I should definitely be around, AllMother says I have to be Yog-Sothoth's kid. I have it all thought out, but for a totally obscure and unknown character, and I even actually asked if I had to hurry up with posting that or getting some other variant - do I understand correctly it's suddenly "as soon as possible"?)
Menolly... what have you done to another me? Now to find a way to get that krill... at least it's not like it's a generic thing that can be lost easily, or some unknown Horcrux.
Though actually a good idea with Taz and laughter, and executed well, in spite of all your doubts) Lord Foul is susceptible to laughter after all

huh?
AllMother?
Is that for Prophets?
Who's Yog-Sothoth?

Thank you both.
Although the challenge was to work a Saturday morning cartoon character in to the plot, I personally was pleased with my interpretation of what The Last Dark means. If there is a named diamond, such as the Hope Diamond, why not a darkened gem named The Last Dark?
Sure beats some of the gloom and doom I've heard the title cause others to predict for the Land, eh?

Usually we get entries in in about a week. I didn't set a deadline this time, but I didn't expect it to be this long either. There is no deadline now, but I may set one sometime soon.
I saw Mommy kissing Yog-Sothoth
In the ring of stones on Sent'nel Hill.
My brother and I were spawned
From the Necronomicon:
Dad looks just like his picture on page seven fifty-one.
Now we will work to summon Yog-Sothoth,
the key to where the Great Old Ones have trod.
Oh he'd have surely come unglued
Had Armitage ever viewed
Mommy kissing Yog-Sothoth the god!
The eagle, the sky's bird said: 'And you have done well: you have left the birch growing, the fine tree standing for birds to rest on, myself to sit on.'
Thomas Covenant groaned a faint ‘Hellfire’ as he stood looking out over what should have been the Sunbirth Sea. The Tsunami had leeched its way back in a circumflected manner from whence it had come. He looked around under the crepuscle light, wondering what all this meant.
‘Ur Lord’, the slate edged monotone voice of Clyme, one of the Humbled, cut across Covenant’s reverie like the wetted edge of a falchion. He turned wearily to face the haruchai, reflecting once more upon this adamantean race, whose very purpose had been vitiated by a chance meeting of one the Insequents.
‘Ur Lord, Branl has detected three strange beings approaching us.’ Clyme stated, his graven face shadowed in the gloaming as his voice, lacking any crepitation, moved sluggishly across to Covenant. ‘What their intent is he cannot determine, Ur Lord, however, beware, as their form of locomotion is . . . strange’ added Clyme, as he attempted to convey the right amount of cautious menace.
Covenant glanced to where Clyme was looking. After a minute or two he could make out some movement, but it seemed all wrong. Three figures were approaching at a pace a ranyhyn would be proud of, however, they were suspended in the air, with no visible sign of support, a result of some unknown thaumaturgy.
As they drew nearer he saw that they were covered in a flocculent substance from head to foot and their bodies had an ursine cast to them. There were three of these creatures, a small one lying in a recumbent posture, a large one that seemed to be driving their invisible conveyance and the third one, which had an extremely large villous growth upon its head.
It was this one that then got off the invisible conveyance and began to approach Covenant. Clyme smoothly moved himself nearer to Covenant and stood waiting.
‘Relax fellows, relax’ piped up the approaching figure. ‘That’s it’ drawled the large one, still seated in thin air ‘you tell em, Bhair. ‘I most certainly shall, Bsquare, if you will let me continue’ replied the one called Bhair in a glib tone. ‘Don’t mind him, he’s still sore about losing MrPPeevley’ Bhair continued, turning his elongated ursine-like form to Covenant. ‘My companions are here to join you, Timemaster and to attempt to scupper your plans to the best of our abilities’ With this Bhair looked intently at Covenant and then gave what Covenant hoped was a grin.
‘Thatiswhatweshalldo, whichremindsmeofthetime . . .’ piped up the midget like one, his words coming out at a staccato rate, rending the air with its manic energy. ‘That is quite enough Hbubi’ Bhair countered.
Bhair then continues to tell Covenant that the three of them are the apex creations of Kaseyn of the Gyre and were created to thwart Covenant plans when he at least expects it.

ebony_squire, what cartoon is that from? I googled Wikipedia and each of those names, and don't find any matches? Doesn't sound like any cartoon I've ever heard of?

Ahhhhhhh. The invisible conveyance, and the backwards names threw me for a loop (IE: BSquare, instead of Square Bear), plus it's been 41 years since it aired

I await entries from one more person (Effaeldm!) and I await Staff answers from two persons.
Let's get them in by next Wed 9/12!
About time you gave up that namby pamby liberal attitude of "Get it in when you're done" and took a Conservative deadline, this event has lasted an entire season
