I think I beat the first boss in Valheim, but didn't go further. It seems like a great game for playing with friends, which, channeling George Thorogood, "I game alone."

The new Zelda game on the Switch. It's pretty neat again.

All these years of reading Avatar’s posts on Kenshi finally got me to try out the game. So far I’m having a good time.

It's a great game.

I'm playing it again myself.
I picked up each of the 3 unique Skeleton recruits, levelled them to the 80's, and now I've given them each a squad of 10 headless thralls who are being trained up as martial artists.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker
Real old school D&D style. Enjoying it mostly...even though it can be a bit tedious. Getting close to 100 hours and there is still plenty of campaign to go. Like...
plenty.

Spent most of my week off playing Hogwarts Legacy, and it was not bad. Not brilliant, but not bad. Combat is particularly fun, setting is great, story / quests are OK.
Had some major stability issues the first couple days, but I think that was more due to mods than anything else, mostly resolved when I gave up on the mod for adjusting camera distance / angle etc. (All other mods were fine.)
Finished the main story-line in about 40(ish) hours of actual play time, and am 65% of the way complete. Will probably not bother much more with it.
Debating going back to Kenshi (again) or trying a couple of the other games I got on the last steam sale. (Hellish Quart, Survivalist: Invisible Strain and Manor Lords.)

I've been playing Baldur's Gate 3 (of course) on my son's Steamdeck and it's friggin awesome.
I've also gone back to playing Neptune's Pride over at np4.ironhelmet.com. Highly recommended multiplayer space game. I just finished a 64-player game and it was a blast.

It's on my list, but I'll wait for a decent sale before I buy it. Also, "Party" games are not usually my cup of tea...Stuff like the Dragon Age games, (although I have played 2 of them), just get a bit annoying for me.
I've ended up diving into Survivalist: Invisible Strain.
Despite some initial struggle getting into it, and the art style which is not usually one I favour, it has turned out to be pretty compelling, and with surprising depth, especially for an indie 1-man developer. Early access yet, but pretty impressed. Sorta like if Kenshi and State of Decay had a bastard hybrid child.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
God but it's dull.
I'm only a few hours in, but already can tell it's not a patch on earlier games in the series like Unity.
I feel obliged to give it a day or two more for decency's sake, but am highly unlikely to go very far with it. Life's too short for dull games, boring books or bad wine. And ain't that a fact.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
It's not that I hated it, (it was still better than Odyssey), and I do have a passing interest in the historical period, but I still haven't bothered finishing it, although I did get quite far before getting bored.
I'll get Mirage once it goes on a 80% sale.
(I haven't been playing anything lately, went back to State of Decay 2 for a while since they released the last update before turning to SoD 3, but got distracted by resurrecting the old blog and playing with my AI image generation stuff.

)

I'm giving AC Valhalla another go Av.
I love the look of it; maybe the game will grow on me if I get a bit further into it. (I just want to get the map opened up.)

Well, it's a lot of fun raiding monasteries and hearing your warband bellowing about killing Christ and burning down his house...

I feel a bit of a dick Av.
When I'd posted before I'd still been in the Norway part of the game. I hadn't even realised that this was just the preliminary chapter before the game proper.
I've just sailed to the coast of Mercia and am in my early stages of exploration of the surrounding countryside of my first settlement......and Wow! I love it! The richness of the landscape: the detail of the panoramic vistas! This is a place that I can have serious fun investigating. I was (snow) blind before, but now my eyes are open!
And it's down to you Av! I was actually thinking about selling the game on, before I read your post. Gratitude my friend. Gratitude!

Haha, I didn't think my post was that encouraging.

I'd almost forgotten the Norway map...I don't think I ever even opened up all of it...I should go back...
Glad it got a bit more interesting for you.

I've always loved a good open map in any game. Exploration is one of my biggest things in gaming (I still travel manually nearly everywhere in Skyrim and rarely ever fast-travel) and I'm hearted to learn that much in the 'Valhalla' map is not signalled to by map-marker (even after 'synchronising' from a high point).
Hours of fun wandering around here and there I'm thinking!

Yeah, it does look gorgeous, I'll give it that too. And once you have your longboat and can scull around on the rivers, that's cool as well.
I just bought Total War: Pharaoh and started a campaign. I've played almost every one of the historical TW games, starting from the very first back in the 90's. But the last one I
really enjoyed was Attila. (I have a thing for horse archers.

)
I'm enjoying this one more than I did 3 Kingdoms, (less interested in that period), but it still feels like largely more of the same. They try and come up with new mechanics in every game, but apart from the gorgeous settings and battles, it's largely been the same grind all along. Still, I might as well conquer the bronze age.
