Nick only has one proper obsession, and that's Sorus C, so the instruction was probably to take out the Soar.

We have aggregated a correct answer. Well done.
StevieG and IrrationalSanity can work out between them who poses the next question.

I’ll happily defer to
@IrrationalSanity unless I get a burst of inspiration and come up with something…

OK,
@StevieG I'll toss out a softball... (hopefully hasn't been asked before)
What unusual combination of Zone Implant settings allowed Morn to convince Nick that she was really into him, and what was the actual effect of the combination?

I think it was a combination of the sleepiness setting with the pleasure setting that made Morn feel amorous in Nick's company.

Half right on the settings. The end result is close, but maybe just a bit off (unless you're trying to be gentle).
- deliberately not specifying which half...

Ah, perhaps it's a combination of the sleepiness setting with the pain setting!

Thank you, Sanity!
My question:
When the UMCP shuttle bearing Warden Dios approaches the Amnion defensive
Calm Horizons, what action does the shuttle's commander suggest to Warden that they take rather than have Warden board the Amnion ship?

I should at least have a guess
Blow it up?

You're on the right trail, StevieG. The shuttle commander suggests to Warden that they destroy something, but it's not the entire Amnion ship.

Hint: what part of Calm Horizons is a threat to Suka Bator?

Just a little more specific...
OK, I'll bite: the super-light proton cannon.
That emitter is the weapon that most threatens the global seat-of-government. The shuttle Warden is taking to Calm Horizons *could* at the right moment divert from a course to the docking port and kamikaze into the emitter, robbing the Amnion of their mightiest threat, but ensuring escalation of the conflict.
Warden dug himself into this, and he is determined not to make it worse...while seeing it through.

Savor Dam has it! The UMCP transport's captain suggests they destroy the super-light proton cannon by ramming into it, and Warden rejects that idea (very likely because he wants to stick around to see to Holt's undoing).
StevieG's answer IS technically correct, but I reward the answer to Savor Dam because of his more detailed response.
Your question, SD!

Warden nixes the proposed kamikaze dive, so the proton cannon survives for now. I thought of asking what happens with that weapon later in the story, but...
Let's look back instead. Earlier in the story, Calm Horizons used its super-light proton cannon. What did it destroy and what other potential target was spared?

Calm Horizons used its super-light proton cannon to destroy Beekman's lab. But it spared...Trumpet?

You are correct about that being a prior use of super-light proton cannon, but I think it was Soar that took The Lab out while Calm Horizons still lurked on the periphery of the Valdor swarm.
I was thinking of another occasion when Calm Horizons' weapon was used and there was a clear choice between targets.

Perhaps that time when
Calm Horizons destroyed
Soar with that super-light proton cannon but in the process let
Trumpet escape?
