I think Mondays are more tolerable when your favourite sports team wins. It certainly rings true for me.
It is not like I have gambled and won money or anything like that, I just feel better about things.
And it is nice to be able to say that without having to contemplate what energy charges thoughts or feelings and differentiates ideas from problems!!

Not that I am not sort of interested in Kants transcending thing.
Nohow, on.

hahahahaha

So not a Crows supporter then?
I think I could forgive a Cats fan but ... mmm .. which team Kizza?
Noting your answer could be the end of a blossoming friendship

I am from Sydney, and I follow the Rabbitohs - the code which is second nature to me. I think the AFL is an over adjudicated shadow of its former self.
If I have to pick a aussie rules team, I suppose like the swans.
Rugby league is my preferred sport. I grew up with it.

Ahhhh .. I can work with that

LOL
Youre not wrong about the AFL but being from Adelaide raised with the SANFL and the VFL .. so its a thing

no?
Well if youre a Sydney sider of course youd go Swans .. my dread was you were a Port Power supporter ..

that alas is beyond tolerable .. for any self respecting South Australian

regrettably I am forced to tolerate some

but tis no easy feat
It'd be like finding justification for Collingwood as a legitimate team if I were Victorian

cos yeah

Last week the Irish people voted in referendum to list the ban on termination of pregnancy - a result reported by the BBC yesterday as being "received with joy". Not ideal terminology I felt on this issue. A termination can never be anything other than a sad end to what should be a cause for joy in the normal run of things, albeit that that end may be the lesser of two evils in less fortunate circumstances.

You may find this disturbing, but I'm a Collingwood fan
It all started out when Collingwood were playing Richmond in the Grand Final of 1980 and my family were all going for Richmond, so just for the hell of it I went for Collingwood - and they got smashed of course (Collingwood that is). So it's been the Pies ever since!

Collingwood seems to have a broad cross section of the community pegged. From rich to poor, and beautiful to ugly, they have it all. One of my sons plays aussie rules, and the other plays rugby union. I feel a lot more relaxed watching the aussie rules games, its just a safer game.... with some notable risks from a minority of over excited people here and there. But I prefer the rugby codes.
It is worth mentioning that there is something about a sporting event in Melbourne which makes people come out of their houses. I used to facetiously slur that it was because there was nothing else to do in Melbourne but catch trains past the sawtooth factories and to the MCG. It must be said they get massive crowds all of the time.
It is harder to get around in Sydney, and the game played there fits on a square tv screen a whole lot better. For those reasons it was always easy to sit home and watch the game.
If NSW dont win this years Origin I may need to go on a retreat. James Packer style would be nice but I couldnt afford that. Regardless, I will need some healing.

hahahaha .. we are funny creatures arent we .. our love for sport is an uncanny definer. Of course grand finals call for more than sitting around the telly .. its party watching and a huge flat screen if you cant see it live.
but NOTHING compares to a live game. Being expat Brit soccer and rugby were the games of choice .. oh and cricket .. every village has a cricket pitch. And cricket and golf are the two games I absolutely loathe watching on telly or listening to the cricket on the radio. My husband loves his cricket and happily listens to it all damn day long on his radio.
I grew up with my dad glued to the telly watching the cricket day in day out .. and ugh ... it literally gives me the literal hee bee jeebies. Well I have no idea what a literal hee bee jeebies is but if I did it would be one of them

.. the noise .. creeps me out. And I dont like watching telly during the day or even being stuck inside during the day is depressing.
But soccer .. I just not a fan .. such a low scoring game I think thats what I hate most. But AFL now that is INCREDIBLE .. fast paced, poetic, graceful, friggn exciting af .. Never really got into Ausie rugby union or league. But we all played rugby at school, the girls and the boys. I remember it being fun.
The thick bodied .. kinda meat head players ... LOL ... kinda give me pause .. like not sure what to make of them LOL
It was so disapointing moving from SA to NSW ACT and no AFL?? We were like wtf is this strange void weve arrived in??

I'm a big fan of soccer - but I've played it all my life so there's that! Although I'm not a huge fan of watching it. I love watching the English Premier League, but something like the World Cup is much more hit and miss. But there's just no comparison to actually playing it. I've managed to break a few bones in the process, and injured countless parts of my body - but I'm still struggling on
I was also a big fan of watching cricket (or listening to it on the radio when camping etc) - not so much now, actually I haven't watched any in years. But I loved the Matt Hayden, Gilchrist, Justin Langer, Steve Waugh, Mark Waugh era - just awesome! Seeing Matt Hayden standing 190cm tall and a metre out of his crease and then walking towards a fast bowler before he'd even delivered - that was a sight to behold!
I also love watching AFL, and well, most sports really. Which seems to make me a bit of a loner on this site of bloody artists.

(Cue Av or someone coming in here and professing their hatred of sports...)
As to being a Collingwood fan - once chosen, it cannot be changed - so I'll live with it (good old Collingwood forever....)

Well it is what it is StevieG .. who knows you might NOT be entirely bogan
Up until a few years ago I played basketball and that is a great spectator sport.
I wont hold you poor taste against you though

And its admirable that your commitment to THAT team is solid .. certainly earns you a guernsey

ffs .. cos youll likely never enjoy a grand final win

though theyve not had a bad run so far sitting what 8th on the ladder? We are only 7th

but its early days
If it was a choice between Port and Collingwood, I am pretty sure Id back Collingwood
Youre not entirely on your own though StevieG .. just pop into the sports forum. In fact if you run a AFL thread, Ill pop in once in a while to gloat or weep .. depending on how my team goes. Sometimes its a bit of a lottery .. especially with the Crows.
