This I agree with. Well said.
Heh, I got her reply... she said she felt hassled by my emails because I would reply to hers the same day she would write, and because she interpreted my explanation as an accusation against her honesty, so in the end she forbid me from contacting her again... now this is really weird. Partly I feel sad because perhaps, if I had taken things a little slower, a friendship might have developed, but partly I feel annoyed because she apparently decided that I was accusing her of duplicity... I guess I'll just have to make an effort to put the whole thing out of my mind, despite my natural stubbornness

oh Xar...the woman is obviously a dumb*ss!! and NOW she's po'd that you DON'T wanna get in her britches!! what a turd! blow it off!! she's an immature idiot and not worth your time. i'm sorry this happened to you and on behalf of women who LIKE men for FRIENDS it is my fervent wish that you not let one bad apple (or two or three even) change the sincere and honest way you approach friendship.
and here's a hug too cause i think you behaved admirably!!
signed,
a woman who has LOTS of platonic male friends!!

Thanks for the nice words, Luci...

Luckily I'm stubborn and I'm not going to change my mind on friendship between men and women anytime soon

It's good to know I'm not the only one though - some days I feel like I am. I'm in Germany right now, and I've talked with a couple of friends who are foreigners like me, about this sort of behaviour. Most of those who come from southern american countries, as well as those who come from southern europe (Spain, Italy, Greece...) have also noticed the same strange thing: whereas girls and women in our countries don't have any problems about the idea of male friends, here in Germany most of them seem to believe that any man who approaches a woman is hitting on her, no exceptions. And it takes a LOT of time and effort if you want to prove her that's not your intent - sometimes too much time and effort to be worth it.

Saw the most beautiful woman on the train today after work. Auburn hair, slim, beautiful face and body, and had glasses. Stood next to me almost the entire trip and I couldn't keep my eyes off her. I'm going to try and chat her up tomorrow.

Maybe you should just invite her out for coffee before "chatting her up". Good luck LM!

There was a woman at the grocery store the other night.
We kept passing each other because we shopped at different speeds.
She was driving me crazy in the best of possible ways.
She was pretty but that wasn't it.
Whatever perfume she was wearing was wonderful.
I would have followed her around all day.
But then my wife called me on my cellphone and told me not to forget a certain type of pasta and that spoiled the whole thing.

You have a girlfriend? When do you find time out from your busy "schedule" with all the Watch men to spend time with her?

Went to the dentist for my 6 month cleaning.
Dentist wanted to grind away an imperfection and said, don't worry, it's just on the surface, I don't need to numb this.
Dentist began grinding.
Dentist went a bit too deep and hit the nerve.
Cail screamed like a little girl and said, "Jesus Christ, you're safe, you're f*cking safe!".
Dentist asked Cail how often he thought he'd heard Marathon Man jokes.
Cail responded that it wasn't a joke.
Dentist shot Cail's jaw full of novocaine and put in two fillings.
Not a good day.

I met my wife by running into her several times at a gas station, something about her got inside me and took hold,I finally got up the nerve to talk to her one day as I was paying for my gas,and she was purchasing a diet Mountain Dew.I found out that she lived only about a mile from my home.Later on after we started dating I mentioned several times I had seen her about town, where she was etc....For a while she joked that I was stalking her.It was just simply a case of seeing someone and knowing they are the one.GO FOR IT LOREMASTER,you will never know unless you do!

Thanks, Baney. Appreciate your advice (as well as your support earlier over the bullying issue at work).
