Don't mean to spam this thread, but the water was SO beautiful this morning, I couldn't help snapping the odd bit of evidence...

Shaun and Sea might just have put the bug in me to visit Australia. The boxed in areas of the dock - is that a swimming area or some kind of fish breeding thing?

More of a sea water swimming pool I believe :D

I will be heading in your general direction next week SdS - a hoity toity conference in Sydney from Wednesday.

Here ya go lorin, to add fuel to the bug fire... this is where I'll be driving to in the summer for a break.

I think there was one, once upon a time, but nobody could afford to go except the locals.

Beautiful) Thanks for the photos)

Made me wonder if there's an animal so common in Ukraine to be considered obnoxious by locals, but nothing except humans comes to mind

Lorin, StevieG's on the money. It's a sea pool for swimming laps. We are spoilt rotten here in Wollongong. They're on almost every headland, maintained by council and free to use. (There's some housing commision in my suburb and I'm pretty sure it's the only place in the world where housing commision is water-front property! So the kids may have some non-optimal home lives but at least they can go and swim and play in paradise.)

Ali, not trying to kill anyone - not since the new meds kicked in ;) - but maybe trying to manipulate a southern hemisphere Fest. Though, yes, long expensive journey for Northern Hemispherers. Ever run a Watch lotto syndicate?

StevieG, how long are you up for? I'm not in Sydney much but I'm playing pub trivia on Wednesday nights at the moment, so I'll be up on that day. If you're not too busy hoity-toitying, we should have a lunchtime beer. Or an after-work drink. Aren't you glad I PM'd that instead of public posting to put you on the spot 8O <-- Seriously, no pressure, but if you felt like it, cool.

ETA: Which one of your gazillion heritage-listed National Parks is in your pic?

That is Freycinet National Park - one of my favourite local destinations.

I will be in Sydney next Wednesday - would love to catch up for a lunchtime beer, then we can say we've both met real live Watchers :) will pm

Ah, Freycinet. I never knew how to spell that until now, but yes, I've heard wonderful things about it. Sadly I haven't personally been. (Walked the Cradle Mountain -> Lake St Claire track, but not much else unfortunately.)
Anyway, an awful place for a summer holiday, you poor thing.

Piccies will be required. Otherwise there is no way we will actually believe either of you. And that either of you actually exist.

Ah, you must be referring to the first incarnation of the WGD system. ;)

Great, now I have to wear my smart tracky-dacks.

That aside, I believe we've had the 'I have an old phone that doesn't take photos' conversation. So... StevieG, do you have one of the 'modern' ones or should I bring my camera?

Lovely camera) A simple new one is noting special, this one is worth being on photos itself)) Well, like it is.

That camera will be fine! I do have a fancy arsed iPhone though - couldn't attend a hoity toity conference without spending all my time on my fancy arsed phone now, could I?

Perfect. You bring your fancy arse and your phone and I'll leave my camera at home. I was going to struggle to fit it into my suitcase anyway.

Hi Effaeldm, it is lovely isn't it. Just checking you know it's not mine, it's an image from the internets. Though I would LOVE to own it and you're right, a picture of it belongs in this thread!

Not a question of much principle here if you own it or not - not like I can ask to take a few photos with it anyway) And the choice of a lovely photo to post here is commendable anyway as well))

The new one with the books is also cool... mmm... old books :D
