Hopefully no one minds me spamming this thread with article links, but I found this one particularly interesting - it provides a pretty compelling (and specific!) reason not to blow your diet with a sugary-fatty bomb of a meal.
and Ali... IU? Meh.

My brother went to Purdue, too, and I still speak to him (more or less...).
Another good article, dw, thanks!

Interesting article, DW.
It's definitely not spamming to give us interesting links about diet and exercise.

I seem to be losing some weight. My jeans seemed a little looser yesterday, even though I had a big slice of veggie pizza for lunch.

It was yummy.
Today, I am being good and watching what I eat.

Congrats, MsMary! You need to do the Ancient Dance of Victory - which when I execute it seems indistinguishable from a seizure.

My jeans feel looser too. . . but I don't trust that. I went to get out the digital scale, and found that my darling kitty sat on it enough to run down the batteries.

Anyhow, I bought some new ones and will be installing them tonight so I can weigh tomorrow. I'm sure that will motivate me.

Fingers crossed for a good result for you, Lyr.... (And maybe put an aluminum foil "cover" on the scale? I've heard some cats hate the way it feels on their feet...)
I had a terrific weigh-in on Friday, and "celebrated" by overeating over the weekend.

Back on the wagon today, dammit.
I've already met one of my interim goals -- that of dropping a pants size before I leave for Spain in 2 weeks (eep! 2 weeks!), but was hoping to solidify it with another few pounds off. Ah well, we'll see how it goes...

I am feeling very, very tired today. I am not sure if it has to do with trying to watch my food intake, or if it's just cause I worked all day and probably could have slept more last night.
Guess I'll hit the hay soon.

It's nice to have a good weigh-in and feel that you are meeting some goals. Nice going, ali.
I thought I was losing, but I seem to have crept up a bit in weight. My jeans didn't get tighter, though, so maybe I am gaining some muscle from being consistent in doing my strength training. Here's hoping!

I like that theory! I think you should keep it.

Well, I weighed in yesterday morning, and again this morning. I lost .8 of a lb by this morning, but I don't think that means anything. I"m trying to be quite good, so when I go to starbucks I'm going to treat myself with the light frappuccino and save about 150 calories.

Congrats to all of you making progress. Little setbacks are just that - temporary, and can be overcome by the true life-habits that you are forming.
I've lost another pound or two since the project, mostly through amping up my runs to just under 5 miles now at a time. I think 5mi is going to be my running limit - I don't want to turn into a hamster!
In other words, I'm going to have to start doing serious weight training again, to continue the burn and make it down to my goal weight.

Running 5 miles? I salute you, sir! Good luck with the training regimen!

If I ran 5 miles a day I'm sure I'd be in great shape. Exercise. . . meh.

Picked up a new bike helemt today, so now my brother and I can ride together. I've been borrowing his since I got hit by that car in December. YAY!
More exercise!

I love bicycling, but my bicycle tires lose air in the hot garage quickly. Having to pump up the tires each time I go out is a major disincentive - especially since our bicycle pump is not user-friendly.
