At least so far, we seem to be going faster. Two whole rounds of combat in one day.

Not that it particularly matters, since the beastie is dead, but a question on mechanics, please, GM.

I have the
Melodic Casting feat. Shouldn't a
Perform check have been done instead? Or must I specify that I wish a Perform check be done all the time in place of a Concentration check for spell casting and using spell-like abilities?
I figure a +10 modifier is better than a +1...

Melodic Casting lets you spellcast without stopping Bardic Music.

So... thinking strategically... seems to me that we could benefit from speaking a language that those around us didn't speak. And given the number of languages in the world, that can be tricky. Since we've just hit level 4 (except Marrik and Barak, who are there already), I'd like us to spend some of our skill points to make sure that there's a language we all have in common, other than... well... Common.
So, to start things off, Led speaks:
Common
Heshic
Darelline
Veracinean
Hamish
There is the language of the people to the far north (think Norse tribes), called Fruspak. I know that our eventual enemies are elves, so we would all do well to learn that, as well. It wouldn't be good for secret communication between us, since the enemy will be likely to speak it. Probably their lackeys won't speak it, though.
Seven, care to comment on any other languages that exist, which might benefit us? Something really obscure, but that one of us already speaks and can teach the rest.

Marrik speaks Hamish and Fruspak
Skyseeker speaks Hamish, Darelline, Elven, and Orc

Yes, but it
also has the benefit of...
Melodic Casting
Benefit: Whenever a Concentration check would be required to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability (such as when you cast defensively or are distracted or injured while casting), you can make a Perform check instead.
This is one reason why I have not added any ranks to Concentration, and continue to max out Perform.

FYI, Hamish is the language spoken by the locals of the place we are in now, so it wouldn't be a good secret code language at the moment.

my bad. Luckily (for me..retcon is a pain) it didn't affect anything at all.

Thanks, GM. As I said when I first asked, I knew it didn't currently matter. But, especially as we are leveling up, I wanted to make sure I didn't misunderstand where I was allocating my skill points.

Please keep in mind Vyn is currently being NPCd, DM. He apparently thought otherwise, but that is
not the case.
Although, if he continues to work like he has the past couple of days, that may soon change. Perhaps as early as Sunday...

Just so he can forward that PM to the rest of us, otherwise we all can break out the marshmellows and cook smores here where the tracks end, while Vynarkus stands frozen in time.
Random strangers walk by, "Is he okay?"
"Yeah, he does this all the time." <reassured look> "He'll be fine." <round of nodding all around> "Thanks for coming bye... want a s'more?"

Will someone please link me to the rules regarding attributes and feats when you level up to certain levels? I thought I had
asked when I got to add an attribute point or a new feat or...whatever, and was told that I do not have the XP to do so, but apparently I am totally in the dark about leveling up to level 4.
At the moment, I am totally confused and frustrated at my inability to learn this game.
Help,
please...
~*~edit~*~
OK...from what I see in the Player's Handbook, I got a new feat at 3rd level (which I'm pretty sure did happen), and will gain a new one every three levels thereafter. Now I get to add one attribute point at 4th level, and every 4th level thereafter.
And I keep forgetting as a human I get an extra skill point to spend...
Is there anything else I need to know that is not listed in the Bard class description on the SRD d20 site?

Okay, so, instead of sleeping this morning, I ended up doing some research on this. Nowhere in the SRD is the experience point table listed, nor the base feat progression, nor the attribute growth progression. (I'd known about the experience point table not being there, but I'd assumed it was just not listed in any of the main links, and it could eventually be gotten to via sub-sections.)
But, it seems that's intentional. WoTC(tm) excluded that info from the SRD, so that there was still SOME value to the core Player's Handbook.
www.d20srd.org/faq.htm (third item down)
So, you're not crazy... you're just too cheap to go buy the book. (That's what they'd say, anyway.)

Detect Magic reveals a POWERFUL spell was worked here recently. SPellcraft roll..it was a Teleport. You manage to get a fair idea as to teh destination.....northern edge of teh Northern SHield of Valkhan mountains, right about where it turns from running mainly NOrth to runing mainly East.
Long raod trip ahead of you folks.
RP to your hearts content...2 weeks IC....which will take up till Tues ro Wed when I get back to Houston.
...Also, I think you forgot to mention the earing of invisibility in your post, Seven.

Okay, boys and girls; I'm back!
And Led, Barak only speaks Common and Heshic, but he does have Comprehend Languages, should the need arise.

Via IM conversations, I confirmed with Seven that they speak Fruspak up where we're going, but that they're VERY unlikely to speak Heshic.
Led has learned Fruspak (Marrik speaks it), and elven. So he's pretty much covered.
Anyone else who would like to pick up other languages is free to do so now, we have teachers for pretty much all of them.

Fair enough.
I'll keep that in mind regarding future posting.
