Good luck, Jenn.

Hope you're happier there.

to everyone who's stressed out, it's looking to be one of those weeks - or maybe months. On the bright? side, I am earning some points by working through what was supposed to be my week off, though I would rather crawl under a rock right now.

My first day went well. I was told to just hang out and help customers. I felt so bereft without 8-11 pallets of freight hanging over my head as well as all my extra chores that about two hours into my shift I begged Seth for something, anything to work on. He gave me two planograms which I whipped out in no time. Then I straightened the furniture pad and wandered around a bit and ended up hanging out in the copy and print center.

That is the newest addition to my "reaction faces" folder. Friend of mine made a creeptastic dwarf. In his RP tag: "He looks a little off..."
I had to caption. Little booger looks like Aphex Twin, ffs. xD

What the hell, life?! What are you doing?!
This might seem like a non-event, but it's the first time it's ever happened to me. Last night I recklessly decided to ask out one of my new friends (by the slightly lame medium of Facebook message, since her phone's broken) and her answer was "Yes, that would be delightful". Seriously Watchers, this is literally the first time EVER that I've asked someone out and got a yes. My girlfriends have always made the first move, and though that's flattering in a way, there's something disheartening about always getting no as an answer when I ask.
I've broken my duck. At 29.
As I said, a non-event in many ways, but it's just completely blown my mind. My response was to stare at the screen and say aloud (alone in my little flat) "No f*&%ing way! You're having a laugh, right?"
Ahem. As you were, Watchers. As you were.

Sounds good...in a way. Jobs where you don't have enough to do can be boring as hell though. They were probably just easing you in, I imagine - trying not to bury you under a mountain of tasks on your first day.

Yeah, the down side of this is I have to go on a date. I hate dates.

On the up side, dates sometimes lead to sex.
On the down side, sex sometimes leads to humiliation. Or maybe that's just me.

This. This. A thousand times this.
Be going at it and just start humming the Power Rangers themesong. He went limp and left.

I didn't think the Power Rangers themesong could make someone go limp. This is a powerful tool.

Congrats on the impending date, CovJr! And Sorus -- hang in there....
A momentous day here. I realized partway through the day that I was in over my head at work, the problem being that the attorney I started working for in April is turning into a really needy guy. "Needy" as in "Please make reservations for me for these three trips I'm taking this week, as well as two conferences I'm speaking at next month -- oh, and give me a folder with the printed itinerary *and* one you make for me with that information on it as well as all of my calendar items, for each individual trip, because I can't figure out the calendar on the Blackberry -- and would you ask the attorney three doors down to come to my office so we can be on this call together? -- and oh yeah, the second trip is changing so cancel the first one -- and please open four new matters with this sketchy bit of information -- and enter all my time for the past week, but you'll have to make up the activity codes -- and which conference room is my meeting in?" This guy doesn't need a secretary -- he needs a freakin' nanny.
And all this on top of they work I have to do for my other two partners. No wonder I nearly had a panic attack Monday. Anyway, I talked to the secretarial manager today and asked her to find someone else to work for this guy. I'll break it to the guy himself tomorrow.
In other news, the netbook is back from warranty service and it works -- huzzah! However, in restoring it to its (minimal) former state, I've hit a $150 snag. I was running MS Office 2007, which I had downloaded because the netbook doesn't have a CD drive. Needless to say, in the interim, those rat bastards at Microsoft have introduced MS Office 2010, thereby rendering my key to re-download Office 2007 useless. (And now that I've used "rat bastards" and "Microsoft" in the same sentence on a public Internet forum, I fully expect my computer to implode...)

everyone.
I'm here to grumble (even though I shouldn't given that in Queensland things have been terrible for the folks there... However...)
OMG I HATE THIS HUMID WEATHER!
We haven't had much of a summer here this year. A couple of quite hot days but otherwise mild...but the last week or so it's been humid...it humid and overcast and rains and...I may as well be living in the bloomin' tropics! And it looks like it's going to be this way for at least the next week. I never though I'd be saying this but: gimme some 40+ days with dry heat! I'll happily suffer that.
Ok...my whinge is over.
