Anyway, this thread was about Chatbane, so... hey - you used to participate in the Watcher chats awhile back, didn't ya, vraithster?
Would love to hear about how those worked out back then?

I had a friend I always had math classes with for years.
Teacher: This is 3 factorial and it means 3x2x1...
Him: WHAT! NO!
Me: right. That's THREE!!!
----[[we also did Teacher: The area of a circle is pi r squared. Him: I've heard of apple and pumpkin pie. What's squared taste like? Me: And besides, they're round, fudge brownies are square.

I think I did a chatbane once upon a time....maybe...I know I PLANNED to do one. I think I started to, but ended up doing a WOW Violet Hold raid with another Watcher instead...who was that??? Hmmm...Dunsparrow??? was that a Sorus toon???
Heh...YOU don't know, might not even know what that means, and likely don't care...:)

Regrets. 5:30 a.m. is a bit too early for me to chat with anyone not on an adjoining pillow. Maybe on another occasion.

Ok sent MSN notification to a bunch of Watchy humans. Linna do you have MSN account .. cos we can group chat unlimited number of people.

Its free and .. might be a good work around given the problems we have with lag and stability in Chatbane.

Hahahaha .. too fast sounds pretty good to me

If this works out ok .. we could run a 0400 GMT time that we ran sometime ago.

And we can test and adjust .. also we can FaceTime should we want to work up to a Digital Watchfest πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Say once in the year at an agreeable time .. the little Chatbane catch ups will give us a clue the best time to catch the most peeps.

As StevieG and I live in the future .. we will go check it out and return and report 😏😎

CALLING ALL WATCHERS TO CHATBANE

So the lovely Linna has done the hard yards and worked out the times in various time zones.

But for those of us down under on the East Coast the time is about 2230hrs 8 May.

We will monitor Chatbane but direct people to Messenger which can handle a group of people well.

Pass it along and dont forget to check out the time for your time zone.

L.O.L.
Do you know what I think?
I think that working out that time zone stuff was somewhat hard in some ways, but... BUT... BUT(!!!)
*stunned speechlessness*
You contacted approximately a BAZILLION Watchers about this thing, sky! 8O
Like, I'd be happy to initiate conversations with a bazillion people but not ALL AT THE SAME TIME! (like I think you did)
So let's instead go with the line of "I did the job you don't like and you did the job I don't like (and am terrified of)."

I like the MSN Messenger idea.
However, I have questions!
Like, I'm not sure what to do.
I don't know my old MSN messenger username.
BUT (!) I do have a current MSN account.
I use SKYPE on it.
I am running ubuntu.
I think I need to:
1. get a program called pidgin messenger, and
2. get some kind of special voodoo-magic linux library to enable MSN messenger, and I think I've done the second step... and I will now proceed to the first.
Tech, support, anyone?
Anyone who knows an answer that is up-to-date for ...MSN messenger in recent years... can feel free to jump in and answer. (i.e. answering my Q does not implies no obligation to go attend the Watcher chat.)

(And if I don't get it to work, I will be content to hang out on Chatbane!)

LOL, that dynamic of friends who know each-other being able to "set each other up" for a joke is hilarious.
Not too long ago, my dad told me how when he was a teenager, he'd hang out at his best buddy's house tons and they'd play boardgames like Risk or whatever... and the two of them would get his friend's mom mad, b/c he would predictably sacrifice all his moves/points/resources to make his buddy win.
(yeah, I know that diverges from whatever we were talking about, but I really wanted an excuse to tell that story...)
I think I did a chatbane once upon a time....maybe...I know I PLANNED to do one. I think I started to, but ended up doing a WOW Violet Hold raid with another Watcher instead...who was that??? Hmmm...Dunsparrow??? was that a Sorus toon???

Ok fellow Watchers

The next big Chatbane MessengerMeet is scheduled for Wed 23 May GMT 0200 to 0500hrs. Weve has a number of chatbanes at this time .. so we are trialling its success on Messenger.

If you have a Messenger account please either provide your account name and Ill add you to the group or pm with your deets.

As Av nominated GMT 0400 hrs we are extending Chatbane a few hours before and an hour outside of that time to make it workable for more people.

Io has nominated the next Chatbane time which will be between GMT1600hrs and 1900hrs .. a date has not yet been selected but probably sometime in the week beginning 10 June.

Linna has Timezone calculations for your assistance and will post them shortly.

I will note that once joining the Messenger group chat .. its a rolling platform which you can jump on anytime that suits you .. and theres always a Watcher around, should you want to chat .. or just scroll through to catch up on convos.

Yours in oneness 😏
