I'm back. Maybe not all the way back, like back in the day back, but back. Let it not be said that Syl abandoned the Watch in its hour of need.

Now, maybe a large part of the reason I stepped away was that it was just taking too much time, and I'm not really someone who can do things a little bit. But I've found my own personal writing slowing down to almost zero since I left. And since that's something I plan on getting back to... Hey, at least it's ass in seat.

I even have an idea for a GT game. I'd been talking about it with Goat, but figure I'll bring it here. More details in the appropriate forum.

Welcome back, Sheriff! Across the Watch, you have been missed.

While I may not play, I will definitely follow (and likely kibbitz) your new GT game. Please do not let Goat convince you to put the game on his private site. Despite being the only active GT mod, he basically killed off that forum by migrating almost all active games off of GT and the Watch.

No rule that says people are only allowed to interact with each other here. *shrug*

As far as feeling like an outsider goes, I don't think it's dependent on whether you've met anyone or not. The only Watcher I've met (besides my now inactive daughter) is Menolly. I've never felt like an outsider, even though I'm relatively inactive, but maybe that's cause I date back to the EZBoard days.

In any case, as others have said, I have observed that every effort is made to help newbies feel welcome here.

And I'm certainly happy for anyone who feels more included as a result of getting to meet people.

One of these days I daresay I'll get to meet more people, too. Just hasn't happened yet.

It occurred to me today (thinking about rus, of all people! ) that another thing we could do to promote the Watch would be to send a regular, if infrequent (every six months or so) email out to the Watch membership list reminding them of the Watch and inviting them to visit. (A bit like what was done to let people know about the E'Fest.) I'm not suggesting that we spam people, and it might encourage a small number of people to return and renew their activity on the Watch, at whatever level.
