I was at college with a Hindu, who said much the same thing. She held all the avatars of various religions as equally valid and real.

My sentiments exactly, having read Kins' posts. Though I'm no lover of religion, I'm also no lover of science. Is the evolution of science over time exactly the point?

Do you have as hard a time as I do finding a bartender that actually knows how to make one? :x

(Ditto on the Bombay Sapphire, Avatar, used to be a Tanqueray guy til that showed up, but I like it with club soda & lemon, very "clean" (no headache next day, just still drunk! (but that was "then" ;) )

Ah, you're always saying stuff like this. But you say it on the internet, which was intentionally designed by science, using computers, which are also completely intentional inventions, all of which uses pesky subatomic particles, which do what we tell them to do under certain circumstances, etc etc. When you scroll up or down the screen, there's nothing actually moving up or down. It's just different parts of the screen lighting one color or another, or going black. And we can make them light up or go black because science has figured out a few things.

There might be one or two other things you use every single day that were intentionally created by people using the knowledge science has given us. :D Telephones, radios, automobiles, microwave ovens... None of these things were accidental inventions. Many of the principles underlying them were surprising discoveries, to be sure. But then these principles were studied, and understood. And finally, someone said, "Hey, you know what I can do with this principle?" And now we can talk into a machine, convert the sound to radio waves, bounce the waves off of a satellite in orbit around the earth!, and reconvert the radio waves back into sound on the other side of the planet.

I'm sorry that I don't remember off hand where to find your posts with specific problems you have with science, but I'd like to hear them. Care to share? :D

Excellent post, as usual, Fist. :D

Esmer---I make a great LI Iced Tea.
And if you can't find a bartender that knows how to make it, tell him how:

Here's the real recipe for the real drink.
Fill a pint glass 1/3 with ice.
Pour a shot each of vodka, tequila, rum, gin and triple sec.
Then add about a shot and a half of sour mix.
Give a quick shake.
Splash of coke, and voila!
And if you must have it, a lemon twist works nicely.
:D

Remove the sour mix and Coke, add Sprite and grenadine, and presto! You've got yourself a Baltimore Zoo. Hint-Women are more likely to drink a pink Zoo before they drink a brown Tea.

Errrr, so I've heard.

Baltimore Zoo? heh. Is that because it makes you have sex like animals in a cage?

After downing two of those I think sex would be out of the question, in a cage or anywhere else for that matter :)

Hey Caam, I thought that was the prayer after imbibing? ;)

I'd nominate this as the most derailed topic on the Watch, if it wasn't for the fact that we've done it much worse before.

Cail, used to love Tequila, but these days, Gin is about the only spirit I drink. Much more of a red wine type of person. Occasional beer. Vodka sometimes, if mixed with freshly squeezed orange. (OK, or neat if it's Zubrowka, awesome Polish vodka.)

Otherwise, spirits are evil. ;)

:LOLS:

That's the one with the grass in it isn't it Avatar?

As to the derailment, I don't think it's to bad. The thread is after all called "What God wants" :D

That is indeed the one flavoured with a stalk of what they call "Buffalo" grass. (Not any type of marijuana for those who are wondering. That is a different story altogether. ;) )

Ice-cold, it's a killer vodka. Unfortunately unavailable in my country. (I've even contacted the Polish Chamber of Commerce to try and find it. :( ) I was introduced to it by a Polish friend of mine in London.

Sorry to hear that Avatar. We get it here, overpriced but we get it.

You can turn to the incredibly good Jamaica rhum "Appleton Estate", which I happen to know you can get in SA, but alas not in DK. The best rhum I ever had. Shame on the guy destroying THIS rhum with coke.

I generally steer clear of hard liquor. I like beer, and beer, for the most part, likes me. But when I'm out on the town someplace nice, it just doesn't do to be sucking on a bottle of Bud, so I'll have G&T, Crown & Coke, or the like. I love Scotch, but I can't stand the cheap stuff (no blends need apply).

Of course, stick me in a bar for more than 3 hours or so, then I want to start doing shots of something.

HA! NOt really, Avatar. "What God Wants"= Jeseus turned water into wine! God wants us to drink! ;)

Cail--when you're ready for a shot, do a frozen Black Buca. Ahh! Excellent for the licorice lovers.

I also mostly drink beer (especially on the weekends doing work around the house. ) But I like a drink too. :)

I was reading a list of tips for successful speed-dating, and it said guys should wear anise/licorice cologne, because, in general, women really like that scent. I'll have to be unsuccessful, because I don't like the smell or taste. :(

I'm sure there are other scents women like that you would like as well, Fist.
"Speed-dating"? Is that when you date as many women as possible in the shortest amount of available time? ;)

Now I love liquorice. But I can't stand the taste in anything alcoholic. No Sambucca, Absinthe or Pernod for me. Uuugh.

Is it not able to be imported, or shipped to your country, --A? I found it easily online.....
