sarge that all totally blows. Y'all get yo asses out to New Mexico now!!!! I find jobs for all of you, somehow, and apartment are comparable to Portland and Eugene, we even have SRD and a little cul-char. (gots to stop screwing around and get to the dissection-whew!)

you sure you don't have a secret job with the New Mexico tourist bureau?
I spent the day looking at realestate in New Mexico. When we do Fest 4 I should have enough in my deferred comp to start house hunting. Hope you haven't moved back to Jersey by then

Can't say much beyond do what makes you happy. I was born in this city, and have been giving serious thought to leaving. It's just too damn expensive. I have nothing left. Everything I own fits in the back of a pickup truck. I should feel unfettered, but I just feel empty.

If you do not take a deep breath, put the margarita mix away, and leave the house to go to work, you will not have that deferred compensation to househunt with.
I wish I was in a position to come help. I wish ali and danlo's visit was sooner than it will be. I wish there was someone else closer that had your trust who could help you. None of those are situations that are possible right now. Again, you can IM, PM or text me if you need to, but you need to grab yourself where you can feel it and pull yourself up. Now!
(believe it or not, this is not a mixed message. Completely consistent!)

First week of holidays is going well. Went to Loch Lomond yesterday - beautiful scenery, even if it was a bit cloudy.
Off to St Andrews tomorrow, weather permitting, have a wander through the Old Town and a look at the golf course. Pity I can't squeeze a round of golf in on the Old Course, but I suspect the family would be a little upset if I wandered off for 4 hours to play golf.

phantasm - thanks for the support. after talking with you and lore it seems that every prison is better than mine.
danlo - we can't move, as long as julie's mom is here. i am all for locating after that. i loved your city.
as for what happened - the assistant warden gave me a big lecture and two months probation. i feel better about it now. likely because i turned in some paperwork a co-worker refuses to do. and i don't feel bad at all.
what upset me the most is that i bust my ass, am loyal and try my best to keep the thugs in line. and i see the stuff coworkers do. and nothings seems to happen to them.
but i have spent today reading comic books so i am in a good mood.

It *was* an okay day. Then the touch screen on my phone quit working. It's taken coffee breaks now and then, but has always come back to work. But I think this time it's a goner. (The phone has a slide-out keypad. I suspect the wire that connects the touch screen to the rest of the phone has finally shorted out.)
There's no way to text with this phone without using the touch-screen, I don't think, and most of what I do with it is text. So basically I've got a nice watch until I can get to the Verizon store. Ah, technology...

today was good. read comic books (graphic novels) all day long. until it was time for the new man vs food nation (set in portsmouth NH!!!!) and Storage Wars. plus Julie taped the newest Ultimate Warrior. ain't life grand?

Haha, I just replaced my home computer, and put W7 on it. (It's even a legal copy, if you can believe it. (Bastards...an expensive legal copy.) )
Bit of getting used to, but I'm fairly enamoured with most of it. (Some stuff still really annoys me.) I was smart enough to skip Vista, (only take every 2nd Microsoft OS), and W7 is pretty good. No issues yet. Mostly.

Key tip for Vista and above, especially if you use your PC for more than just internet:
Disk defragmenting is turned on by default, on a weekly schedule. If you turn off your PC before it's finished, it'll start up again every time you turn the PC on. Go into your settings and turn the damn thing off, or your PC will run slow as hell. Same for the Indexer, though the setting for that is harder to find and I don't recall where right now.

Good ol' Microsoft, I tell ya, they're always trying to improve our computing experience....
Speaking of electronical devices, shortly after I complained here about my stupid phone, the touch screen started working again. I guess I just had to threaten it with extinction. Gotta remember for the next time it quits working: the magic word is "upgrade".

My work laptop, a brick that runs XP, once every couple of weeks or so throws up a pop up that tells me that the computer has to restart. I'm sure it's something the IT people put in. Before it would let me close the window, when it would pop up about 10 or so minutes later. Now it gives me no option other than to restart. I'm not able to work on what I'm doing. It has the annoying habit of doing that when I have one minute to get something edited or printed out.

So, where would one find the disk defragmenting controls on Vista to start?

Type disk defrag into the search bar on the start menu, should pop right up. Can also be found in the usual place: Programs, Accessories, System Tools.
