I believe number 1 is "unction", as aliantha gave away earlier. My guess for no. 3 would have been "trepidation".
No. 4 I can only guess has something to do with The Office US, because of the paper company bit, but I've never seen that show.
I immediately tried to find a clue that led to "clench", but couldn't see one.

That's not bad! And if you spelt it 'tre
pedation' you'd have the feet part
I'm Murrin wrote:I believe number 1 is "unction", as aliantha gave away earlier.
I don't think the word would be as obviously there as that, in spite of ali's wonderful song

A knight, Holly Flax, Mike Scott, Dunder Mifflin

Would you believe it, it never even occurred to me

Thank you, kind sir!

Yeah, I'm not sure unction is right, either. "Conunction" in the clue is pretty obviously missing a "j", but I'm not getting anywhere with that. Another possibility is a joining of unctions, I guess, but that's also not musical. And there's always the chance WF simply misspelled the bloody word.
Actually, I think the only one I got right was #2 -- although WF's word could have been either puissance or puissant.
I think u. is on the right track with your "low-grade laminate" idea, but the word is from the Last Chrons, not from Mordant's Need.
And...that's all I got.

Between the clue, and the song you referred, and the fact we're looking for an SRD word... I'm certain it's unction. You're overthinking it.
"Trepidation" was one that just jumped out at me immediately, because it's a word SRD uses and it means fear, and what are you feeling when you get cold feet about something?
Formication has to be correct, good catch there.
I'm trying to think simple on these. Something a dog does for the Snowy clue... can't quite think of it.

Okay, I'm done with the shillyshallying around
I'm fairly sure that no. 1 is 'unfettered'.
I was thinking 'crepuscular' for no. 2, although ali's 'puissance' is not a bad guess. I'd never have thought of its 'cos of the French pronunciation.
For 3, I was thinking 'leprosy', but since it's unusual words I'm much happier with 'trepidation'.
Forget 4 (unless someone like Savor Dam comes on board

).
Murrin has rightly got 'formication' for 5, as in 'ants of formication!' (from MN, I think?).
My only guess was 'clingor' for no. 6. If Linden was an EMT then c'lin'gor is a very thin stretch to her
I was going with 'arghule' for no. 7, simply on its closeness to 'argue'. Does Snowy spend time arguing with Tintin?
And finally, 'urviles' for no. 8. To me griffins are angry birds and they 'bear' urviles on occasion in the 1st Chronicles (TTBOMK).
There, I've finally said it!

You had a great and involved argument...
I was going with 'arghule' for no. 7, simply on its closeness to 'argue'. Does Snowy spend time arguing with Tintin?.
I SO think this one is "intoxicating."
If we're talking the Snowy from TinTin, I've been told he very notably loves lapping up whiskey of some Captain character.
And "intoxicating" both came up a lot, and is the right verb form to match the question.
For the angry Birds one... I think something with pigs.
I am not super Angry-Birds-literate, but I think they expose pigs by knocking into the pieces of wood that are sheltering the pigs...
and then destroy them.
"swine"?

Mmmmm! It's a bit too 'normal' for SRD

'Porcine' as in
Hustin? (Wrong word-type for the answer though

I'm pretty sure it's actual
frequency in the First Chrons is relatively high, though I admit its "uniqueness" to SRD is low.
The land was intoxicating to Covenant, and that was a theme that showed up
a lot.
As far as the one I thought was possibly relating to pigs... yeah, I don't know... and besides, there are
gaps in my SRD-corpus knowledge.

I will mention that "This contest is a cross between The Price is Rightand Stephen R Donaldson Ate My Dictionary" is a clue, that might lead you to a web page that would be very helpful.
Also, I feel compelled to say, I admitted the clues were "rather useless" up front. I want no cries of "unfair" when answers are revealed!
Which needs to be soon...

right... a simplistic reading of that information would say that it implies that the words can be found in "Stephen R. Donaldson Ate My Dictionary."

That being the case my answer for no. 1 is a bust cos it ain't in that golddarned dictionary. I think I'm going to call Foul and cry
'Intoxicating' isn't in there either
The wayfiend is going to win

Nah, Foul is a humorless git. He's going to lick off your tears with his ACID TONGUE OF GREEN DARKNESS.

It is obviously futile to persist
The wayfiend has triumphed utterly

P.S. Thanks for the competition wayfriend. It was good fun, even if we were on the wrong track most of the time!

And the winner is ...
StevieG
Here are the scores:
ussusimiel: 2
deer of the dawn: 2
StevieG: 3
Here are the answers.
1. There's a song for a conunction one.
unction - 7 letters
("Conunction unction, what's your function?")
winner:
everyone was over
2. Something you would squeeze from a pimple.
expostulation - 14 letters.
(Admittedly, the other answers you guys had were just as good.)
winner:
ussusimiel
3. A reason for cold feet.
bootless - 8 letters
(Need I explain?)
winner:
deer of the dawn
4. Dated the regional manager of the Scranton branch of a paper distribution company.
fey
(As in Tina Fey, who was in
Date Night with Steve Carell, who stars in
The Office, playing Michael Scott, the regional manager of etc. Fairly typical query in IMDB.)
winner:
everyone was over
5. Use of a low grade laminate.
formication - 11 letters
(You guys got this one pretty easily.)
winner:
ussusimiel
6. Won't stick to an EMT.
immedicable - 11 letters
(Not sure I can explain this even now. But it's still funny.)
winner:
tie, StevieG and deer of the dawn
7. How Snowy frequently passes the time.
tintinnabulating - 16 letters
(Snowy is Tintin's dog. They often go perambulating. Tintin + perambulating - tintinabulating. Elementary.)

rictus - 6 letters
(A rictus is the gape of a bird's mouth, among other things. So when a bird opens its mouth, it bares its rictus.)
winner:

Congratulations, StevieG!
Honestly! I mean it! I'm very happy for you! Really!*
And ali was right all along about the song! Me and my stoopid 'unfettered'
'Expostulation' and 'bootless' are both good.
'Fey' is brilliant. We were a couple of steps away though.
'Formication'

is the only one I actually got right, so I love it.
'Immedicable' is a great word but a bit of a stretch for the clue.
Should have got 'tintinnabulation' as soon as Tintin entered the fray
Don't think I'd have got 'rictus' in a million years

(even though I've looked it up a couple of time because of SRD).
Ah well, 'twas good sport. Thanks again for the competition, wayfriend. I wouldn't mind doing it again sometime (just not too soon

)
Congrats again, StevieG, you deserved it!*

P.S. I'm not bitter at all! No way! Not me!
