South of Broad, a new(ish) novel by Pat Conroy.
I always have mixed feelings about him...when I start one of his books, I always brace myself for the almost florid prose, but by the time I'm 20 pages or so in, he's caught me in his web.
There's also a lot of similarity between his protagonists, most of which are at least half himself, but somehow he seems to make it work.

I had read Submission by Michel Houellebecq and am almost done with The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov.

Reading about retro gaming .. or gaming? The same applies but I am heartened that you have a life ... .. outside of theosophical pursuits.
Not that theres anything wrong with theosophical pursuits of course... but deep, very deep. LOL

Actually, it was SRD (along with Tolkien and Herbert) who largely jumpstarted my love of philosophico-theological studies.
SRD brought me here, so I must have -- or at least, had -- a life, right?Skyweir wrote:That depends .. are you reading about pro wrestling ... or actually wrestling .. cos if its the latter ... no

have not been *actually* reading, have recently (in the last year or two) become addicted to *listening* to books on audible. however I generally only listen to books or book series that I've already read. in the last few months I've listened to a whole lot of Stephen King, then I moved on to The Expanse series (which I listened to a couple of times because the reader is soooo good) then back to a few more Kings (again and again! lol) and then I started on the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child, mostly because our esteemed SRD reader, Scott Brick reads the most recent one and I wanted to see how he did with that! (he did great) then I went back to the first book (Killing Floor) then I skipped around through the series to my favorite ones. at this point I think I have 3 of the 23 to finish!! (2 more after the one i'm on now) Dick Hill reads most of them but the reason Scott read the most recent one is Dick Hill has retired!! (Hill also reads most of the Michael Connelly books - tho now Titus Welliver who plays Bosch on the amazon prime show Bosch reads the most recent ones, and literally all of James Lee Burke's Dave Robiceaux books)
so there you have it. a classic lucimay wall o text! heh.

i've had this with actors before, on the set,
where they get upset about the [size of my]
trailer, and i'm always like...take my trailer,
cause... i'm from Kentucky
and that's not what we brag about.
