My most-watched DVD by far is The Shipping News. The people are good company, the cast outstanding, the scenery is great, and so is the music. Any job feels lighter with The Shipping News to help you through.

For quite a while The Fast And the Furious was another most-watched (love that adrenaline rush), but F&F has been overtaken by The Score with Marlon Brando, Robert DeNiro, and Edward Norton. Tour de force performance by Norton.

Recently I overreached myself buying series season boxed sets like Babylon 5 and Stargate SG-1, but with birthday/Christmas season coming up, I'll let my family do it for a while. I got the first season of Dark Angel (Max and Logan sizzle!), but decided to pass on the 2nd season with the far-fetched story line.

The Fight Club DVD is also on my xmas list. Brilliant flick! My Fight Club tape is getting a little ragged.

Birdandbear, I agree about American History X. I've never seen an audience as knocked-out as when I saw AHX in the theater. I have the tape, but I couldn't possibly watch it enough to justify getting the DVD.

Independence Day and Jurassic Park, though -- they've gotten a good workout!

Buying DVDs has become a poison for me... Whenever I feel sad and/or lonely I go and buy one. It has so far had a very nasty effect on my economic situation and filled over two "Benno-the-CD/DVD-shelf" (see www.IKEA.se)...

Now that I've purchased Finding Nemo I'm waiting for X-2. I rented T-3 and was underwhelmed. I enjoyed it but it didn't go anywhere new. I also rented 28 days later. Pretty cool.

I'm glad you resurrected this thread, I'd been wondering where it had got to.

At one point, I had 200 DVDs. But I found that I rarely watched most of them so I cut down to around 50 which I watch from time to time. I have pretty much everything Lord Foul has, which is to say that we enjoy the same type of visual/audio entertainment. I wouldn't be very surprised if he liked some of the music I liked as well. Quite interesting.

I like stuff that is surreal like Clockwork Orange and Apocalypse Now. Those moves are kind of the Pink Floyd of cinema.

As far as our mutual like of music? I dunno, but let's see, eh? I have all the studio recordings of the followings bands: Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles. Those are the main three for me. And then there's The Who and Nirvana. And then there are the bands which I have one or two CDs of their stuff. That would be: Black Sabbath, Guns N' Roses, Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, Radiohead, Soundgarden, and some Bach. Not much else. I plan on getting some Velvet Underground and Lou Reed.

I have a silly number of DVDs as have just got back from China, (came back with about 200)and you can buy them there for about 30p each. The Alien box set comes in at £4, though, however alot cheaper than the £56 at HMV-shocking. I know piracy kills stuff, but there isn't much choice except buying the bootlegs in Asia, have needs must, as they say. I must say that I do try to avoid screeners though (morals and all)!!
