Most of the time I'll just have a beer, but if I'm looking for something a little different it's Captain Morgan rum and Coke for me.

I'm the opposite of sarge. I can't drink tequila anymore. Not because of any after effects of usage, but I really can no longer take the burn going down.

Gil: I have never tried absinth, is it not illegal?

Not anymore. Refined distillation techniques removed the need for to be IIRC.

I used to love tequila. :D Still like it, but rarely drink it. Tend to stick to beer and wine anyway. Occasional G&T maybe.

Anyone tried that 'Quinns' that's being advertised? It says it contains fruit and nothing else.

I like tequila. Tequila does not like me.

Are you serious? Why? It doesn't make you mad or blind anymore as far as I know. (Very popular here with the party-crowd.) Awful stuff though.

I thought it was the hallucinatory wormwood (or somesuch) in it that was the reason it was made illegal. as far as I know the stuff on sale now doesn't have this in it any more.

Here's what the Absinth buyer's guide had to say about the reason it's illegal in the U.S. (I've never been all that curious about the drink, myself)

It's vile. Pretty much like any licorice/anis flavoured alcohol really.

Thanks for the link.

Basically, Sarge, the link notes that the F.D.A. doesn't allow the importation or production of spirits containing the chemical compound thujone, which is found in absinthe.
