Sounds great, but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to make this one.
GRRM is a great guy, very warm and funny, so it would be awesome for all of you if he could be there as well as SRD.
I hope this will happen, that everyone who wants to make it somehow can, and everyone had better take a ton of pictures!

i'm just bettin you could save up by june. get on it, dammit.
you're more advanced than a cockroach,
have you ever tried explaining yourself
to one of them?

cause... i'm from Kentucky
and that's not what we brag about.

Yeah - what Lucimay said.
I took a glance at the first student discount site that popped up in Google: www.studentuniverse.com
It shows a 1w fare from LON to ABQ of ~$800US, and a 1w return that is comparable at ~$750US.
When I went through the normal (non-student) discount sites, I kept coming across RT fares around $1,400US. Not too bad for point to point travel.
I'm guessing you can sweet-talk an intrepid US Watcher into driving you in from a more airfare-popular city than ABQ & shave several hundred $US from that RT fare.
Make it happen, man. Eat Ramen noodles.
Personally, I am considering cashing in some FF miles to come visit, assuming I can get my better half to agree on the other expenses...
How many chances like this does one have in life?

Looks like June is an expensive month, though. Check April and the prices drop to <$600.DukkhaWaynhim wrote:Yeah - what Lucimay said.

He could try the long, long way round?
LON - WAS (via Reykjavik) $401
WAS - ABQ $259
Total: $660
That's for 7th June, only prob is the Iceland one arrives 7pm and the next flight to Alburquerquerqueque is 11.30am, heh.
(Well, at least we now know that the cheapest way to get to Washington from London in the summer is via Iceland.)

Well, I was only looking for CovJr's benefit, really. I live in Indiana, so either a quick SW fare or FF miles on one of the bigger airlines and I'm there.
Now if I can just convince my social director that we need to go to Albuquerque next year....

Not to speak for any other Watchers...but I'm sure somebody in DC could be persuaded to offer floor space to a transatlantic Watcher trying to get to the Elohimfest.

I'm a maybe on this. Would be great to meet everybody, but I'm limited on funds and I'm going to have classes and field courses to pay for... and if it's a June thing, I'll probably be at one of those field courses at the same time you guys are partying.
