Nice post, Avatar.

"Noetic concordance" is really cool. I might have to read some of this author for that name alone.

It's quite original, isn't it? (And if you do I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. For 3D characters, they really do give SRD a run for his money...)
Fist - Have you tried Amazon.com? You could probably get 'Diamond Mask' and 'Magnificat' pretty cheap on there.

I favor the names that don't have so many syllables or accents. While I wholeheartedly agree that Tolkien was a master of names, I like names that have a sort of simplistic elegance about them, along with meaning.
If any of you have heard of the novel, "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel." I like names that are out of the ordinary but have relevance to the character and his/her role in the book.
In a story I wrote, the main character Jonathan Creed is struggling to find his belief and purpose--hence his last name "Creed."
Some names I like are:
Harvest Shepherd
Caiarn (cairn)
Cion (scion)
Endur Hunsendt (ender or endure)
Senturel (central)

Heh. I went to a local used bookstore today. I got a paperback copy of
Diamond Mask for $.50, and a hardcover of
Magnificat for $1. Feelin' pretty good at the moment!
