Disaster porn. Good name for it.
I've attempted to avoid any coverage of this because I too fall into the "who cares?" camp. But one thing about the "Us" story bothers me in particular: their calling Britney's new haircut and tattoos "self-defiling". Huh? Tattoos are very in with young women right now, if I'm hearing from my kids correctly. And what difference does it make if she shaves off all her hair? It'll grow back, fer cryin' out loud.
Maybe she's on the verge of a nervous breakdown, or maybe she just has poor impulse control. But I know that being under the microscope the way she is would make *me* crazy.

It's like Us already had the story written, and were justwaiting for the next thing Brittney did to use as the evidence proving their story.

At least there's still one blonde-bombshell-pop-icon type out there who's never made the headlines for all the wrong reasons......Ms. Piggy rawks!

I care.
I care about any young woman going through a troubled period. I care about anyone who feels like their life is so out of control that they take it out in ways that make them feel like they have a modicum of control. She can control her skin, her hair, her reproductive system. I understand, and I care. I hope hope hope she stays in and does well in rehab.
I really just want to give her a hug and tell her that things will be fine.

All I have to go on concerning Ms. Spears' control or lack thereof is the word of the mainstream media, which I find to be suspect at the very least. Shaving one's head and getting a tattoo would be so not newsworthy if anybody else did it. Nevertheless, I hope Britney is well, or gets well soon.

I wonder what the media would make of me. I've been shaving my head and getting tattoos for years.
I'm not cute and blonde, though. Nor do I have any discernable talent.

Hey now! I'll be the judge of that, thank you very much.

I feel sorry for her. She's crashing and burning like so many other child stars have done before her. It can't be easy living with your entire life in the public eye. She has made some very bad decisions before these ones. I think shaving her head and getting a tattoo are the least of her worries. Getting involved with Kevin Federline and airing her personal home videos were much worse decisions than her recent ones.

I think she was refering to the "reality tv" show that they had.
Right Jenn?

I don't think any of our tv stations carried that show. Doesn't seem like we missed out on much.

Wild theory....
Britney isn't having a meltdown. She doesn't want to be saddled with 2 kids so she is making sure K-fed gets custody. After all, she doesn't want giving up her two children to a loser to be part of her resume'.
Can't help it, I'm a cynic!

I reckon she did a Sinead O'Connor, cos she at least had street cred...

I don't think I'm a cynic but it wouldn't surprise me if we get a new Britney album shortly after she's out of rehab.
I have to be honest, if I had her kind of money and fame I would probably be twice as messed up. I've had my fair share of drug and drink binges and I've pretty much had no money for most of my life, so I can only imagine what I'd be like with her money.
