I'm leaving for the Austrian Festival on monday, cant wait. :biggrin:
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

I saw the True Colors tour at Red Rocks last night. The girlfriend won tickets, which is great because I kind of wanted to go. The lineup:

Cyndi Lauper
Erasure
Debbie Harry
Dresden Dolls
Cliks

with Margaret Cho as MC.

I really enjoyed it, but who I really wanted to see it for was the Dresden Dolls. I've become a fan of their first album this year, and I think this has pushed me over into being a fan of theirs. I got their other album, got it signed last night and got a hug from the lead singer lady. Which was cool.

First day off since I got back from Glastonbury, so for Menolly and anyone else who's interested.....

This was my fifth time and the wettest! It rained and rained and rained and on a farm with 200000 people that means lots and lots and lots of MUD!

It only stopped raining on several occasions long enough for the mud to dry into a stick mess that sucked your wellies off! (Imagine ankle deep, thick, slippy lumpy GLUE!)

So the weather kind of spoiled it as the adventure and experience it normally is. It was just too hard to wander round aimlessly. It's big enough that walking around dry can be exhausting (eight mile circumference, stages all over the place), but in the mud, every step is the effort of about ten normal ones!!! The solstice was unfortunately sacrificed as it was freezing cold and miserably wet :( .

On the plus side, I actually got to see some fantastic music for a change! We checked out the following...

I am particularly looking forward to Jesus and Mary Chain, The Fall, Sonic Youth, Beastie Boys, Primal Scream, Polyphonic Spree, 65 Days of Static, Camera Obscura, Iggy Pop, Modest Mouse, The Aliens, Kila, The Undertones....

Hmm, all in all far too much good music on so I'm bound to miss loads of what I want to see, and I'll be too busy running around to see bands that I like, to see other great bands that I've never heard of.

Crap, I've just talked myself out of my excitement! :?

The headliners for Friday I know. I like I'm Gonna Be (500 miles) so much, I knew who they were as soon as I read their name.

Yeah they'll be good fun! I bought a 'best of' cd on Friday cos although I know their biggies, hadn't heard anyhing else. Reading the insert, I didn't realise just how worldwide the Proclaimers had made it. Good on them!

I had the Proclaimers CD with 500 miles on it when I was in college. I remember being pretty impressed with the CD all the way through. Ought to be a fun show. :)

I've seen the Proclaimers before, and despite being very nerdy, it was an especially good show. However, out of that lineup, Robyn Hitchcock would be who I would soil myself for, despite seeing him once live already. And I'd be excited about seeing Billy Bragg, who I have never seen yet.

Well, third day about to start and I have the gritty eyes & gravelly throat to prove it! Been great so far, apart from losing my backpack on Friday night. Robin Hitchcock was good (6/10), Dreadzone were amazing (9/10), Proclaimers were hit and miss (7/10) on Friday. Oh, and the Silent Disco was extremely funny. On Saturday The Blockheads were perfect (10/10), Duffy was...Duffy (3/10), Orchestra Baobab were extremely disappointing musakcrap (0/10), and Divine Comedy much better than expected (8/10).

Today I'm really looking forward to Miles Hunt, Dengue fever, Transglobal Underground, and I'm hoping that Billy Bragg et al in Imagined Village will surprise me cos I got an horrible suspicion they're gonna be awful.

Hopefully the rain will stay away too!

Day Three's highlights were most definitely 3 Daft Monkeys. Nobody else grabbed my attention very much at all.

I may be heading to Donnington Park this weekend for Download ( www.downloadfestival.co.uk/lineup/ ) although not 100%.

I've been to a few of the UK festivals and Download is easily my favourite - both location wise and music wise.
