I share your doubts. The GAP is very very DARK.

It probably won't, but it's still fun to speculate.

I'm kind of shocked that it was even optioned. I didn't think anyone would ever even do that.-jay

Yeah, I'm surprised it was optioned too. It's a great story, but epic sci-fi historically hasn't done well at the box office (with one exception).

They were talking all about how epic fantasy hasn't done well at the box office back in 1999. Then came Peter Jackson.

Before that, they were talking about how westerns had become extinct. Then came Clint Eastwood.

There're genre barriers... but they aren't insurmountable. You just need to be serious about doing what it takes to overcome them.

I wish it could happen, but I agree chances are small. It is definitely too dark (unless they screw up the story so it becomes unrecognizable, but then what is the point to call it an adaptation?)

As much as I love the Gap, I can't imagine a way in which they could make it less "dark" without ruining some necessary character development.

How many potential projects are optioned? I ask to see what the probability is of this actually happening.

Many are optioned; few are made. The probability of a Gap movie is close to zero, although, in another sense, it's a lot greater than it was before it was optioned.

However, unlike for Chronicles, I don't see any wind of this in any trade sites on the web.

hmmm... some good news and some bad. We'll start with bad.

Yes, Forbidden Knowledge is listed as in pre-production at fullyloaded.TV
I suppose we could be hoping for an HBO series. Or maybe a new channel, Dark Adult Television.

On the other hand, Fully Loaded's filmography is all R rated, darkish looking indy films. Possibly the perfect company if they can get the cash for a high quality big screen production.

I was elated at reading the announcement of the option, but as time goes I realize that I don't want to see just any film production of the Gap; what I want to see is MY vision of a film production of the Gap.

And finally, Welcome me to teh forum!

It looks like RS, being short, is being merged into FK (?).

Great find, stutty!
