ROTE was release 3.5 years ago, and so far no mass market paperback release. I don't think there are solid rules on this.

Depends on the sales of the HC. Look how long it took "Di Vinci Code" to make paperback...a couple years?

How long a time span do they use for counting initial sales? I definitely plan to get the book the day it comes out (neither rampaging Fire Lions nor the Sunbane itself would keep me from the bookstore that day). That should add to the "best seller" count on sales shouldn't it?

I didn't know about the pre ordering stuff counting towards best seller lists. Good job I pre ordered this on Amazon in February
