It all sounds like a terrific weekend to me! Again, LMK if you want my help with the cook out. I'll be happy to do brats and key lime pies again, or perhaps a coconut cream cheese layer cake, if I have access to ingredients, cake pans, needed appliances and mixing bowls, and a reliable oven. ;)

well...hmmmm.

i'm in a quandry.

i wanted to attend WFC too AND come to the SE meetup.

if they are both in november, i'd have to choose. i'm too poor to do both and, like waddley, i will be in school.

but i need to check out WFC and calculate costs for that. i have a friend in Atlanta who i could stay with if the SE meetup is there so that gives the SE meetup a distinct advantage over WFC...but my friend Esmer lives in fulton which is not far from Syracuse which is not far from Saratoga Springs, or...at least it doesn't look to far on a map.

yeesh. i can't decide. arg.

i wish i was independantly wealthy.

It's too early to tell if I can go or not. A friend wants a group of us to go to Vegas some time in the fall. And since Vegas has a way of chewing up extra funds....

I still think I am going to try to make it there. My birthday is early November so it will be a little b'day prezzie to myself. I might even take some extra time to visit my sister and neices in Fl.

Which, IIRC, is not all that far from my FIL's...

I believe I could do the 17/18 (assuming the girls get rides home for Thanksgiving break on their own). Any and all activities you suggested sound pretty cool, iQuestor -- I'd love to contribute something for the writers' roundtable. (I should have *plenty* of time for writing after August 23rd....)

Not to put a fly in the works but when's Thanksgiving this year? If the 17/18 is the week before T-day I will have to count myself out.

Yes - that's the weekend before Thanksgiving.

17/18 works for me.

Luci - I hate to add any kinks to the Fest plans, but I'd say that WFC is the better choice if one has to be made. It seems that many of us will already be there. And it would be a tremendous boost for writers to want to become Writers. :-)

I'm sure iQ will agree with me after a day or two of WFC. They day after it ends I start counting down to the next one. I usually go home and immediately make hotel and flight reservations for the following year. LUV the con!

I'd love to try to make it. Though, I'd suggest you move it north a bit and rent some cabins in the Smokies. :)

As long as it doesn't coincide with the Sept. 1st Rush show, I could try to make it. But that's a very tentative statement--as are most statements not yet discussed with the wife.

Hmm. Cheval hasn't responded to (or even seen) my PM yet, and his last post was 2 weeks ago. I wonder if he's on vacation.

Sorry 'bout that.
I didn't want to respond until I knew for sure about the my status on things...
which is not good.
Got some medical bills coming in and missed out on a week's wages
due to the car wreck.
Damnation and Bloody Hell - I miss all the good stuff.
Maybe a closer gathering will be in the future for me,
or a lump sum of money.
Yeah, right!

But I will not give up hope and will still try to come up with something by then.

Yeah, like, are we doing this, or is everybody going to WFC instead? Because I'm good either way, I think. (What's the closest airport to Saratoga? Could I take a train?)

I'm starting to see some fall airfare deals (tho it'll be kinda iffy to find cheap flights for the weekend before Thanksgiving, I think...). So, y'know, just askin'....

I know I won't be doing WFC. So if iQuestor is still up for hosting, and dAN still wants to carpool, I'm all for Atlanta...
