Honestly, I should just start a "Snowball's Chance In Hell of Meeting Stephen Donaldson" thread for the rest of us.

Just being a grump, Covenant. Glad you got to meet SRD!

No. I haven't. And, well, it's probably unlikely I ever will :)

One day. Perhaps. :) If it comes to pass (if I get to meet him) then I'll be grateful for the opportunity. If it doesn't I won't regret it. It doesn't really matter to me that much anymore. And most of you will think I'm crazy for saying that, but...well...

Hi All, just to bring this Thread back to where I started it, as I am
off work today and not doing much right now, I have located my Hard Back copy of Forbidden Knowledge.
This is what Mr Donaldson wrote for me as Saltheart.... :-)

To/ Andy (I was younger at the time) Joy Is In The Ears That Hear"
Stephen R Donaldson 11/11/1991
So what do you think Guys, I think its Cool you know. :-)
Peace
Andrew.

I've met him twice. The first time was the the 2004 Eloimfest and I met him again at Bubonicon... I think 2005? I just wish I didn't turn into a babbling idiot. I've met all kinds of people... sports starts, actors, etc (I met Sylvester McCoy who was the 7th Dr. Who) and I do not get weird at all. Around him, though, I get all nervous which is so not me. How do you tell the guy that he was the only adult that I could relate to and look to the books for guidance without weirding him out?

I was the same way this year at E'fest. I sat down with him to have my books signed and simply could not think of a thing to say. What a goober ...

Sydney was on the list of prospective WFC locations the other year. But it didn't work out. I was SO bummed! I'm sure it will work out one of these days!

Oh, I talked to him alright. The trouble was I had so many things I wanted to say, but did not want to sound like a character from a cheesy Stephen King novel. Like I was going to trap him in a cabin somewhere and make him write TC forever or something. I have very few people that quilfy as a role model... infact most of my childhood role models are no longer role models. I see them for the flawed people they are, good people, but no better than I. I am too freakin nervous to talk to him enough to get to that point and that so totally NOT me.

i met srd when he came out for the filming of fbh. i cooked dinner for the filming and jenn's birthday; i can't for the life of me remember the menu. it was lots of fun. i remember he apoligized for stabbing me so hard when his character killed mine. i was like, "no big deal, steve.", although i did have a nice bruise for a few days. of course i totally wanted to dork out, and praise him for the stories, have deep conversations about hope vs. dispair ,but he being out of his element and surrounded by strangers i thought it best not to so we just smoked and drank port.
hell of a nice guy.
