We just broke up.

*fires up Limewire and downloads Pink's "U and your hand".*
My wife and I dont have a song that's officially "our song". She walked down the aisle to Bach's "Pachelbel's Canon" which she has always loved and I've grown to love, for both the beauty of the song, and the memory of that day.
We both worship Bush's "Glycerine" (uh, Gavin Rossdale, another mancrush) - she used to play it on repeat while studying, I used to sing it all the time - and Better than Ezra's "In the Blood".
Oh, and I've tried to convince my wife that Ben Lee's "Gamble everything for love" should be our song, but she just shakes her head and smiles.
*listens to Pink* Love this song! Sass!

I love weddings where the bride chooses her own music for the processional and recessional instead of going with the typical wedding planner selections. I am so tired of Wagner's
The Bridal Chorus for processionals..
I did not have a lot of attendants at my own wedding, as it was a second marriage. But, the processional started off with Paul being escorted down the aisle by both his Mom and Dad, since it was a Jewish ceremony, even though none of them are Jewish. I selected and used Stravinsky's
Fanfare for the Firebird (at least, that's the title I know it as) from
The Firebird ballet for my processional.
:::shades of
Yessongs influenced that choice, as well as my love for Stravinsky:::

Me too. Its the personal touches that make the day so much more memorable. We had a very good (nationally awarded) string quartet play live at the ceremony - on my wife's insistence that we would not stoop to "canned" music. She's the one with class.

Our song is
Kung Fu by Ash.
I was listening to alot of Ash just before our big day, and S liked that one best. Then when we were having our interview/planning thing at the registry office, the guy told us we could have
any music we wanted, we both thought the same thing, looked at eachother and started laughing. So we had Mr Miyagi and Jackie Chan et al while were signing the book thing.
Here's the song played at my fave place (only five more days and I'll be there again woohoooooo)...

Other songs we used - Dougie Maclean's
She Will Find Me while we were waiting for S to come in. Still think this is one of the most beautiful songs ever. It's the soundtrack to this....

While S came in, we had The Horslips
Flower Among Them All , which isn't on Youtube BUT SHOULD BE!!!
Then as we were leaving we had The Baghdaddies
Albanian Waltz.....

Stoney, while I am unable to watch any of the videos on this connection, and I do not know any of the songs you just listed, it sounds like a terrific selection! Just how cool that really must have been!!
Duke, a nationally awarded string quartet? Ooo, I would love to see your wedding video!
:::yeah, I'm nuts. I love watching others home movies:::

There's probably a 12 step program out there for you, Menolly. I pray it helps.

But the first step is acceptance of there being a problem, yes? I am definitely not there yet. Offer to show me vacation or wedding videos, and I am perfectly content.

With my last gf, it was Tara by Moya Brennan. After we split I could hardly listen to the song, which was hard because the artist had dedicated that song to me less than a year earlier
I can listen to it again now, though.
There's someone new coming into my life - very early days yet - and our musical tastes are so different that if we did get it together we probably won't have an "our song" but we shall see. It's still VERY early days yet!
She is into Celtic Christian stuff, so I'm sure there's something we can find that will be exclusively "ours"
