Thanks for all those links....

 I think I can honestly say that I can't see myself buying any country music in the near future!

Don't want to overwhelm you Stone but here's what you get when you mix Irish folk and American folk/country.

Overwhelm? As much as I love bluegrass, even I can't stand listening to that. ;)

Well, some people say that they like some country music but not if it's too twangy, but for me, the twangier the better. Fast pickin' banjo, dobro, and fiddle, yeehaw!

I like bluegrass but I hate what has passed for country music for the past 30 years. That "urban country" stuff just leaves me cold. But I don't like easy-listening music in *any* genre much. The radio stations that are supposedly programmed for women in my demographic just put me to sleep....

Sarge, you mentioned Raul Malo. I totally loved his first solo album. Well, okay, maybe it was because he sang a bunch of stuff in Spanish, rrowrrrr! We've seen him in concert a few times -- my friend has a serious jones for Raul -- and in one concert, Raul said that every song in Spanish is about getting laid. Unfortunately, his most recent work is tending toward the soft-jazzy stuff that a lot of singers are doing now. My friend loves that stuff, but for me -- urgh.

Julie and I saw the Mavericks by happenstance. Junior Brown opened for them and we went to see him. they were fantastic. country music has a void where they you to be. too bad Raul has gone soft jazz, he has a great voice for belting out songs.
