I voted for Geraden. To me he has all the qualities that I love in a man. (boyish charm and loveability, honesty, loyatly, self sacrificing...sigh) Ok, I know that is sappy but I don't read romance novels and this is as close to romance as Donaldson gets. (in my limited reading..I haven't read any of the short stories - just TCTC, MN & the Gap series)
I couldn't help but wonder why Teresa was the only woman on the list of choices. My second favorite was Lady Myste. I know she had a pretty minor roll but I really liked her character. Much more so than Elega. She seemed more pure and true. Elega will always have a ring of betrayal surrounding her in my eyes. I know she was justified, at least in her own mind, and forgiven later but I still don't like her actions.

OOPS!

probably because who ever made this poll is a man and didn't think it throughly through!! I really dug Myste 2. And my secret fav character is: Quiss, actually! If MN Vol III is ever written I'd rather have her run Orison than any1 else...but...u probably couldn't blast her out of Domne w/a nuclear bomb!

I went for Artagel, too. A very nice guy, very honest and trustworthy. Geraden and Myst are also favorites of mine.

Yes, I liked Geraden and Myste, too. Both very likeable characters.
And what about Torrant? She turned up late in the book, shy and blushing, but really showed she had a lot of spunk and courage!

Torrent and Myste are both cool. I'm not that crazy about Elega, though.

I could not find my favourite in the poll

. When I read MN (rather long ago, and it was quite a while since I reread them too), I fell head over heals in love with Gart. It was probably in a time of my life when I only fell for bad guys (oohh, Alan Rickman... )

I wrote a short story trying to explain why he became what he became when I was around 14 I think. My teacher at the time did not fancy it...

Still think Gart is fascinating though.
Oh - what nose! Oh - what voice! Oh - what swordsplay!

I, for my part, got hung up on that nose/swordplay thing and could never get past picturing him as an evil Cyrano de Bergerac...

i voted for adept havelock, for the simple reason that he was tha man!
i mean, i'd vote for anyone who could walk thru a flat mirror, survive and manage to repell huge chunks of stone propelled from huge catapults with only a mirror... while insane no less!
havelock 0wnz jo0!

Teresa. If any of us were thrown into her circumstances, with her background, I don't think we'd do half as good. She displayed brilliance at times, determination at others, and just plain-old trustworthiness throughout the whole ordeal. Sure she made mistakes, like trusting Eremis, but that only proves how clever she was to figure him out.

Am VERY late to this topic thread, but what the heck:
I missed Myste being on this list, but that's okay, for I'm not p*ssed, 'twill be the Tor who gets my vote, his empathy deserves my note.
