I like it too. Found the UK edition of ROTE at first too oblique and vague, didn't depict anything but perhaps parts of trees, but now, with FR coming out they together look great. Not the usual Fantasy cover. And the typeface is the same they have used for some time now from the publishing of Reave the Just to the new paperback editions of SRD's other works.

Just picked up my ticket for SRD's signing here in the UK - he is actually coming to the capital - Manchester ;)

Can't wait - This is the first time I will have met him and any other author/famous person for that matter! plus I get to buy the book as well :bwave:

Cool! I do like that cover better. The US cover seems to be unfairly trying to envoke Gandalf.

Speaking as someone from the UK that has a copy of our version. I think that your all right when you say its glimmerere. But I prefer the other cover, I think our one is too bland and boring.

If any one can get a picture of the back cover of the Uk edition, theres a close up on the top half of a tree (gold highlights like the front cover).

I'm assuming its the one tree, but it doesn't really come up in FR.

I like the quote: "Something entirely out of the ordinary."

Sure to get the Monty Python crowd interested...

The UK Cover art is the BEST there is. I kinda wished they's re-issue the whole collection in a similar way... And I'm so glad I don't have to buy any of the US versions..

I just dislike the covers of Adult Fantasy novels when they look like they're targeted for Alvin and the Chipmunks.

I have the UK version, and I must say it looks awesome. The scans don't really convey it. The background is dark, grayish, bluish purple and everything else is either gold or silver. It's a wonderful contrast. I can see that the colors have been chosen carefully. The cover material is more matte than usual, save for the shiny gold and silver bits. The arrangement of elements is balanced. The general effect is that of restful vividness which beautifully conveys the essence of the Land.

It's so much better than the Saruman cover I've seen scans of.
