I'd have to reluctantly admit that once Angus became "altered" he shot to the forefront of my intrest. Lets be clear though he was a completely despicable character. Interesting but despicable. (Imagine Daffy Duck when you read the word dethspicable.)

Whadaya know. Spacey was my early pick to play Vector. I only switched when I thought his newly acquired Leading Man status changed his aura, so he doesn't project passivity. IMO, anyway.

In spite of your feelings about Russell Crowe, Amani -- or maybe *because* of them -- would you mind him playing the dual role of Angus and Davies? It makes him a villain and a sometime neurotic, after all. I think his look is perfect for Angus, and combining the two roles would take a heck of a lot of his kind of talent.

(I read on the Covenant casting thread, you hated Crowe for Covenant. I agree he's impossible there.)

I just don't know - I have not found the perfect Angus yet. Crowe? Maybe. But I do not like the idea of Crowe shwoing up in two roles with some digital trickery... (although I know SRD emphasizes the striking similarity between them).

For some reason when I think of Davies what always comes to my mind is that lost-boy character from that misbegotten Lost in Space movie, you know the one who existed in the future and met his family from the past. I do not know why.

Well I don't think he aspired to end up dead and have Angus use his body as a shield, but side from that, yeah.

Oddly enough, I do think Vector aspired to that. He had already accomplished his life wish, he saved humanity with the mutagen. After that he felt useless for anything else, not to mention being in constant pain. I think he went to the Amnion ship because he felt like he could be useful as cannon fodder. Vector knew that, in the next stage, Angus's role was so important that he gave his life gladly to protect him.

I'll have to get back to you on that one when I've seen the movie. In the meantime, if we can find two people who look as much alike as Angus and Davies, one of whom can act the brute and tell us all about Angus's torment through his eyes; the other of whom can project Davies' identity confusion and, as you say, little lost boy quality...

Two days later, I'm still cudgeling my memory on this, Landwaster. Is Sib Makern the bloke who keeps scratching his chest? The guy who keeps failing to guard Nick? The one who wants to be "spared"? Because if not, I simply can't remember.

It would help if I knew what Eric Bana looked like. Maybe that would be a better question.

We'll take him when he grows up. I believe gray hair and sagging flesh was mentioned more than once, about Darrin and his lady. It was one of their badges -- showed they were good enough to survive.

I spent all this time thinking, and I haven't been able to think of a savvy but laid-back captain of the right age.
