Edit - Somberlain, whether we meet or not, I owe you a drink!!!! Just got a ticket by phone - of the hundred tickets available, over 80 have been sold. PHEW!

I probably won't be around much beforehand; my family is visiting me that day (though not attending the signing), so I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to be doing in the afternoon.

Pubwise, there's not a whole lot of choice in Broadmead itself that I can think of, but if you walk down Corn Street, which is a few minutes' walk towards the centre from the Galleries, there are a few pubs/bars lining the pedestrianised bit.

Now I just have to scrape together enough money to afford the book.

For the London meet, I suggest we gather at Victoria station...handy for CJ and as no-one is coming in from a northerly direction we may as well make it so.

Sounds good to me. My coach gets in at 11.50. There is one that arrives an hour earlier, but I'd have to get up ridiculously early to catch it.

I'm sure you will have a good day in London. Quite a few nice places near FP (Intrepid Fox bar just a stones throw away as well as Covent Garden) to enjoy.

Usually I'd be happy to meet up but flying to Holland in the morning so no personal signing for me.

Have fun! Oh and Cov, make sure you put your coach tickets somewhere safe for the journey home!

Well, that was pretty cool. Contrary to expectations, he spent about an hour doing a Q&A session, which was followed by a signing session. I got my copy of the first Chronicles signed, along with Fatal Revenant which I bought tonight.

The Q&A was really great, I've never been to one of these before, and his answers were genuinely fascinating, and their topics spanned pretty much the whole range of his work too. My visiting family tagged along and even though they haven't read a single word of SRD, they both enjoyed it immensely too.

It was not what I was expecting, as I'm sure I've read somewhere on SRD's homepage that he doesn't like public speaking and isn't very good at it.

I beg to differ! He spoke like a professional - plenty of humour, and as The Somberlain said, it was fascinating stuff. He also made it alot more personal than I expected - quite alot of what he talked about was about how he feels when he is writing, and how his personal life does/doesn't affect his writing.

He admitted that in the original draft of TIW, TC and Elena do the deed, but he was persuaded by editor to take that bit out - which he's now glad about.

It was a fantastic evening. I was very very glad that I sat near the front, as there was over a hundred people there (I asked staff!) and the queue for signing was moving VERY slowly - he wasn't just sign sign sign then next person, but had a few words for everyone. Which was nice.

Hope London is all going to plan.....
