Another thought here.

While she was alive Elena caused untold amounts of damage to the land, breaking the law of death, LF's winter, enabling the SOL to be destroyed, Sunbane, etc.

Anele is therefore the reversal of that harm.

Just a thought
If we all follow Berek's code of warriors then the world would be full of the worst warriors imaginable.
