Alex Graham invented the phone. he used to call Sherlock Holme's assistant, Dr. Watson. (great grandfather of Emily Watson.) seems someone called Deaf Smith after that, but he was busy scouting for Sam Houston. Sam was a friend of Stephen Austin, great grandfather of Steve Austin, the six million dollar man. Steve's boss was Oscar Goldman, first husband of Goldie Hawn.

I worked for the Ohio bell telephone company, which split in 86 from att the ohio bell was seperate for a number of years until aquired by SBC, SBC later collected most of the previous bells in 13 states, and then started into the wireless venture with cingular wireless in partnership with bellsouth....cingular wireless aquired ATT wireless, then ATT was purchased by SBC and SBC took the ATT moniker...then ATT aquired Bellsouth, and combined ATT wireless with Cingular wireless, and called it cingular, and then changed the name back to ATT wireless....those of us in the company know of a video used for managers that stated...."Ma Bell rises again"......and ATT was the american telegraph and telephone company.....created in part by bell himself I believe not sure here but the rest is true and happened mostly in the last 5 years or so

Regarding the Bell Telephone Company, what color envelopes are bills sent out in?

White...with a little cellophane window so that the address on the bill shows through, allowing them to only print your name and address once per mailing.
And just as AT&T is the modern spawn of Ma Bell, Verizon is the scion of GTE.

So answer me this: was there a stamp glued to the envelope (which Thomas Covenant could melt off the envelope and add to his stamp collection) or was there one of those painted stamp pictures that just looks like a stamp but isn't good for anything?
(answer must be given in less than three years!)

Postage meter.
You think someone in the phone company was going to lick all those stamps?

Actually, yes. Therein lies a critically important story...a
Grima tale, indeed!
According to the most current research, both the mucilage on the stamps (LFB was written prior to the introduction of peel-and-stick stamps that need not be licked) and on the envelopes was derived from the slug trails of the Worm of the World's End.
The unfortunate wage slave whose job it was to lick all the stamps and envelopes ended up ingesting so much of the WotWE's excretions that he morphed into a character from an entirely different fantasy series.
Yes, our poor licker-and-sticker ended up in the Lord of the Rings books as a henchman of Saruman and the advisor (qua betrayer) of King Théoden of Rohan!
Surely you have heard of Wormtongue?
