That's okay; I'd prolly just throw up anyway, after I saw what the bear did to you.

Did to me?
Obviously you've never seen the glamour shots of me on the bearskin rug.

It's the 9-inch tongue. That sort of pigeonholes you from the get-go.

Well, since I am not planning on having it removed I guess I'll have to live with the consequences....

Meh. A predictably Hollywood list. Some good picks in there, but there are just so many more. Quint's is the best of that bunch, but I'm shocked that the Dirty Harry "How many bullets do I have left" bit isn't on it.

I have someone I should introduce you to. The guy with the lien on my kidneys. And my radii and ulnae. He sold my soul for a pack of smokes on a road trip. I haven't been able to laugh since. I liked laughing. It gave me hope.

The more I think about it, the more I agree.

the Field of Dreams speech is tripe. in the book JD Salinger is the hero. with it's history of racism why would James Earl Jones be defending baseball?
replace it with Bogart in Casablanca.

Here's Billy Jack's. Starting at 4:20 into this clip. Of course, the rest of the clip, or at least after they're in the ice cream shop, really sets it up.

Yes indeed....Why would any Black man defend baseball....or wear cotton.....
Casablanca is arguably the most overrated film ever.

I agree that the baseball speech was over the top and campy, but I also think the best way to get past this whole racism thing is to leave it in the past, which we cannot alter, and look instead to the now, where I'm not seeing a whole lot of racism in Baseball.
And don't forget to vote for me in '08!

:jumping OT, feel free to ignore:
Indoctrination is a difficult thing to overcome dAN. I admit I see it being passed on to Beorn at his religious school regarding the history of the Holocaust (how many times can you hear someone say "We will
never forget!" and not realize you are being indoctrinated?), and
love for the State of Israel.
I am not African American. I am sure I do not see what they are taught/indoctrinated to view as racism. I do not agree leaving things of this nature in the past is the best approach. I think calm discourse, not indoctrination, is the way to go. Unfiortunately, it is the rare person who can do such.

In any event, I'm somehow sceptical that the Flicks forum on Kevin's Watch is the place where racism will be cured for once and for all, so why don't we just stay on topic here? The Field of Dreams speech was weak, man!
