Never played tactics. But as long as the battles have meaning plot-wise, I don't mind. The thing that threw me off was the graphics. But thinking back, I've played a LOT worse ones. I've just been spoiled rotten by the new technologies.

Hrm, I think tactics is one of the prettiest games of it's generation. (along with Castlevania SOTN) If you are lookin for a shiny, new RPG that's good, i'm not sure I can help you. Mass Effect is a game I looked foreward too *a lot* but no XBOX 360 so nyet for me. Maybe you can play it?

Best RPGs released recently (that I have at least) Oblivion, Neverwinter Nights 2, The KOTORs, and Dragon Quest 8.

I know the feeling. I once laughed at Baldur's Gate 2 the first time I played it, back in 2002. I thought the character animations stiff and the graphics outdated. It ended up becoming one of my top 5 RPGs.

I have Disgaea, and while doing several clever things with the tactics norm, I tired of it quickly. Strangely enough, I bought another one in that same line by Nipple Itchy (sorry, make that Nippon Ichi) that moved a bit of a faster pace, had slightly better graphics and I found the story a bit more funny. It wasn't Phantom Knight or whatever. I suspect it was another...ahh...found it. La Pucelle. I spent about $45 for Disgaea, and about $10-15 for La Pucelle. I got a lot more out of the cheap game. They both struck me as essentially the same game at the beginning, but La Pucelle was a bit more fun from the beginning. I did feel like I was wasting an awful lot of time leveling up characters on both.

La Pucelle was the prequel right?

Disgaea is really good Balon. I have a copy I can basically give you seeing as I have no PS2

I'm super happy with Mass Effect, but then I'm not a big RPG player so we may not necessarily be looking for the same things. If you liked KOTOR though, you should love Mass Effect.

Not really an option unless you have a 360 though...

I had much more positive feelings from KOTOR than i received from Mass Effect. It was still a great game, but was missing something...

Yes, unfortunately I'm not sure if it's the kind of Xbox exclusive that gets ported to PC within a year, within 3 years (a la Halo 2) or never at all. You may or may not need serious hardware to play it if it did come to PC, it looks great but at it's just the Unreal engine, albeit polished to a dazzling sheen. It shouldn't be a system-killer like Crysis.

Wow, that's really generous. Especially if you know how much you can pick up for it on eBay or Amazon.

Pfft. KOTOR improved Star Wars, rather than the reverse.

How could you expect an action game from BioWare? Moreover, every media outlet was touting it as the best RPG for the Xbox.

I just saw it on the shelf having heard nothing about it, as of course, I'm not into RPG's. I think my bong may have had something to do with it too, heh. :D

Just picked up a psp, the Tactics Remake, and Dracula X chronicles. The games came today, I'm still waiting on the psp :(.

Hopefully I can find a copy of Puzzle Quest somewhere, I played a demo months ago and it seems awesome.

Darth Revan beats anyone anywhere else in Star Wars.

it's the whole system of play CJr, it just doesn't appeal to me for some reason. :? maybe it's when a firefight is imminent, the last thing I want to do is pause the game and select my moves......
