This is sad news indeed. One of my worst fears is leaving my children with no father; I'm sure he had no intentions of doing that to his little daughter.

Wow, what a tasteful way to mourn Heath.

Yes, it's looking like an accident, tho the autopsy results are apparently inconclusive.

I agree with everybody (those who knew who he was, anyhow) -- it's a damn shame. He was a fine actor.

What do we live for, but to make sport for our neighbours, and then to laugh at them in our turn?

Normally I opt to assume the best in people, but yeah, if it were someone like, say, OJ Simpson instead, I'd be here laughing, even though that wouldn't really be fixing any of his wrongs, or helping anybody. I guess we each have our own way of dealing with these kind of things.

Wouldn't it be the bomb if he reappeared alive and in Joker makeup at The Dark Knight premier? That would be the ultimate publicity stunt. Too bad he is really dead.

I said the same thing at lunch yesterday and my co-workers were not impressed.

There are few things in the world funnier than death. Things are funny because someone gets hurt. There are few things in the world that are more harmful than dying.

Here's to hoping whatever the hell you have isn't contageous.

It's called an understanding of humour. Things are funny because someone gets hurt.

As far as I can see, you're showing a distinct lack of humour.

Humour or lack thereof isn't the point here. The point is someone is dead who really shouldn't be. Show a little humanity, people. If anyone wants to laugh about it, they can do so elsewhere. This isn't the place or the time.

I had no particular regard for Ledger or familiarity with his work, but I also had no cause to wish harm upon him, and that's enough reason for yet another premature death to sadden me - not least because it reminds me how many more go relatively unremarked.

How was his death premature? It happened exactly when it was supposed to.
