When I was about 13 years old I was playing around at the apartment complex pool, having fun swimming like the Man from Atlantis. At one point I began leaping into the pool with my hands at my sides ready to swim like a dolphin. While diving in the final time I had lost track of which end of the pool I was near and of course dove face first into the shallow end. After smashing my face on the unforgiving concrete bottom of the pool I surged from the water, my face covered in blood. I needed several stitches along the inside of my upper lip. The doctor said I was lucky I didn't break my neck.
