I figure anybody Quick can't figure out is something serious. And Quick knows Kruppe is cheating, and is not even trying to hide the fact that he's trying to figure Kruppe out. He's up front with putting his talents to the task of figuring Kruppe out, not doing a partial job because he doesn't want to tip off his quarry. And still, he has no idea how Kruppe manages his crap.

Well, yes. Anyone Quick can't figure out probably is something serious. Kruppe is something serious, but not exactly powerful (well in the raw sense of the word)

But what do you mean by cheating?

He was cheating at cards, and Quick had no idea how. Even worse, the game was rigged the other way!

 Wow I don't remember that.
Still, I think all of Kruppe's 'power' is from is utter geniousness (probably not a word :p). Though Quick, I'm fairly sure, is one of his closest competitors.

I think most of Kruppe's schtick is misdirection. He's at least an Ascendant. Too much is going on with that guy for it to be all just human talent.

Oh, and Nequam, we do indeed seen K'rul outside Kruppe's brain. In MoI,
Spoiler
he's Keruli, the mysterious guy that Gruntle, Stonny and Harrlo are working for.

Yes, but he started out in Kruppes dream and needed a blood sacfrifice before he physically manifest himself. My point is: without Kruppe K'rul would still be essentially powerless and out the mix.

Kruppe is pretty weird and my guess is that he has been around a lot longer than he lets on. Though I'm still not sure I would label him as an ascendant. Power alone just doen't make you ascend and you don't neccesarily need power to ascend
Spoiler
(look at paran...oh wait is that spoiler? I'll tag it anyway lol)
I don't really know for sure, but I have a feeling that we are about to learn a lot about Kruppe in the upcoming novel Toll the Hounds. Since he apparantly is getting A LOT of attention.

TtH:
Kruppe waggled his brows. "Such journeys leave self puckered with dryness, gasping with thirst."

Sighing, the High Alchemist said, "Help yourself."

Beaming a smile, Kruppe drew out from a sleeve a large dusty bottle, already uncorked. He examined the stamp on the dark green glass. "My, your cellar is indeed well equipped!"

...

"You do not put me at ease, Kruppe."

"Join me in a glass of this exquisite vintage!"

"There are a dozen wards sealing the cellar - twice as many as since your last visit."

"Indeed?"

"You did not trip a single one."

"Extraordinary!"

"Yes, it is."

OMG Kruppe is elder god of eels and Endest Silaan is going to eat him somehow!

By the by, I think they said
(relating to Kruppe's abilities in TTH):
Spoiler
that Kruppe uses mockra. Anyone else remember something like that?

That wasn't spoilerific for you? Ok, I'll make something up. Kruppe is actually a god that the Crippled God warred with in his old world.

Re your spoilers, Holsety:

Spoiler line 1: I don't remember that, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Spoiler line 2: What a great theory! Let's start a rumor!

This sounds right. And theoretically the bridgeburners could be wrong, but I feel like Erikson's soldiers (Malazan soldiers anyway, not necessarily those from Lether, Seven Cities or elsewhere) have a very high tendency to know things they probably shouldn't - a good example would be Braven Tooth in The Bonehunters (IIRC he knows that the Andii in the bar are related to Rake, and if he doesn't he knows some other facts you wouldn't expect him to know, I just don't remember what :? ).

I,m only up to "Memories of Ice" but the introdution of Kruppe in that story cracked me up for example taking Cole horses to draw his own carrage. In general he adds a bit of light humour to the proceedings you could even class him as a Fool with all the different colour garb he wears. With all the serious stuff goes on he adds a bit of fresh air to everything.

Of course, you already know from GotM that he's a bit more than the fool he seems to be, eh?

Ach I do indeed , he is a very clever character and pretends to be stupid and as the Crone says , there is a very intelligent person under all that facade. Plus has wandered the dream world and become friends or aquainted with K hasn,t he :?:
I still havent worked out if he actually has powers or has access to a warren or he just is a plain old mortal. :!!!:

No, whether or not he's got any power hasn't been revealed. Personally, I don't think it's possible for him to not have some serious power. I think he just knows how to hide it veeeeeeeeery well.

Everyone forgets the scene in Gardens of the Moon where he walks down through the market using magic to carry sweets through the air to his sleeves. ;)
