CovJr, the fanzine category doesn't need to be a paying market. I agree, however, about the low sales.

Ah, I know nothing about fanzines. I'll take your word for it.

Something we have keep in mind about the Anthologies. They exist for our own use. No marketing has been pursued. If we are going to alter our plan to include a concern about sales figures we'd probably do things a little differently. First of all the title and description of the books suggests that they are not for public consumption. We can change strategies to include a more public offering if everyone agrees to the idea.
I suspect the sales figures would be higher if not for the fact that several Kevin's Watch members are part of the creative team and have intimate knowledge of the content. The motivation to purchase something that is already known so well is somewhat less than that of a member who is eager to read something new. However something that is surprising is that very few if anyone who has read the books have commented on the web site where the books are purchased. There are no formal reviews after 3 books. If I were a member of the Watch and wanted some kind of feedback about the books before purchase there is very little to be had. I don't know how to encourage readers of the Anthology to take the time to contribute to the website.

*nodding* It is a puzzlement.

Dunno that we'd need to change the title of the anthology, tho. No reason why we couldn't continue to call it the Kevins Watch Anthology. But, yeah, we would very likely have to do a fair bit of marketing to conference attendees, if we wanted a shot at winning.

Meh. Maybe this idea's time has not yet come. ;)

I don't know about awards, but let me know when the deadline is and i will do my best to submit something . . . even if it is only a poem. And by the way, if I have published something online (through a webzine) does that make it ineligible for submission here?

Wyldewode--I expect that depends on what rights the webzine holds to it, because I don't think we mind much ourselves.

Yeah, that was the policy in the first one...I was gonna submit something published elsewhere and asked Myste...she said it was fine, as long the original publishers didn't have a problem with it.

I'm wracking my brain for ideas as we speak. It's been years since I wrote a story. . . I forget how to start. ;)
